As far as i can recall, the side sections of the arches are solid castings, and not the same open frames as the the two inner arch sections, with plates added, as shewn in this animation. When an arch was replaced after cracks were found, one of the inner arch frames were erected at the Canal Museum at Stoke Bruerne, Northamptonshire. (Without the crossmembers, so the joints aren't quite right.) Some other parts, including (as i recall) a complete cross member, a broken cross member, and some outer arch sections found their way to the Waterways Museum (was The Boat Museum) at Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. 🧙🏽‍♀️🙋🏽‍♀️

Thanks for this superb upload; so very worthwhile. Please do one on Thomas Telford's other masterpiece, the Menai Bridge. How did my KZfaq feed know that just two days ago I started to read a book all about Thomas Telford? This animation fits perfectly with what I've been reading.
