this is not enough information to even guess where to start. You need to be assessed by a facial therapist and/or and otolaryngologist.

I just got diagnosed yesterday. Started with a bad taste in my mouth last week, and a few days later, i couldn't move the right side of my face. They gave me prednisone and some antibiotic to take. Idk how i set it off. Some said it could've been from the bad tooth in my mouth or from cleaning with ammonia. They can't really say. I don't have really have a medical history because there hasn't been anything seriously wrong with me.

I cannot give a detailed answer if I have not assess your current situation. Many things to look at. Is your movement affected because of lack of return of nerve function, or because of tightness and synkinesis blocking your movement? I work with some people that have been dealign with this for several decades, and we tend to always be able to make some progress. But again, I don't have a full picture and cannot be specific to your case.

the first step is being evaluated by a facial therapist. You might be appropriate for it or need to be referred, that really much depend on your current situation, which I do not have a full pictures of.

massage gun are way too aggressive for the face and it just not going to give you a smile.Eye closing when you smile and eat is synkinesis. You need facial neuromuscular reeducation to address that.

a deep thoracic / diaphragmatic breath in this position hits the exact spot that I'm tight in. Probably a good way to deepen the stretch even more and train the posterior ribs / t-spine to expand with the breath

Thank you so much for your videos. They have been incredibly in my recovery process. I have a question. Today, after massaging my face for about 20 minutes, my left side started twitching around my lips including spasms that would pull my lips upwards as I was trying to smile. All involuntarily. This continued for about an hour and now I’m worried I may have overdone with the massage or may have triggered something else. Is this normal? Or should I be concerned. Thank you again for your time and dedication.

without assessing I can not be sure but it is quite common to experience this temporary spasm and twitching as part of nerve healing.

This was excellent and very clear, and made me realise I need to go much more slowly- I had no idea about stretching and exercising muscles around my mouth before trying to get my symmetrical smile back. I’ve only had BP for four days and now realise I was forcing my smile too much. Very helpful - until the last exercise, where I was confused as you said ‘good side’ and ‘right side’, as if they meant the same but right is also opposite of left. And the captions underneath that bit said ‘affected side’, which I think you were calling ‘involved side’! Could you please reply with clear, simple terms to explain that bit again. For me, good/unaffected side v bad/affected side, would be the most helpful terms because remember also that when you’re looking at someone else or yourself in the mirror, using terms like left and right add another level of confusion! Thank you.

My doctors told me take botox for synkiness is it necessary to take or else ur stretching exercise will help me to cure it completely?😊
@ButheauPhysiotherapy
@ButheauPhysiotherapy Ай бұрын
Facial rehab and botox are the conservative treatment for synkinesis. Botox will assist in decreasing activity of synkinetic muscles. Synkinesis is not 100% curable. IT can be greatly helped and decreased but since its origin is in nerve healing and rewiring, you cannot change that.

Hi, thank you for wonderful informative videos. I have Bells Pulsy and am on week 19. No movement yet. My eye started closing and is not so dry any longer. My involved side feels like it gets warm every so often. I have discovered that it feels like my muscles are moving ever so slight, but the actual movement is not visible. Is this normal.
