Keep in mind: Fox's Brawl showing still resulted in a C-tier placement. Outside of Brawl, his performance has consistently been A-tier or better. Best competitive Smash fighter of all time.

It’s a shame he gets so much hate bc he’s so fun to watch at the pro level. His setups and combos are so intricate and insane that it feels like the skill ceiling with this guy never ends, and in a game with many low skill ceiling characters I find that refreshing. My only gripe is that I personally don’t enjoy playing him, but that’s fine. Wish he wasn’t banned in so many tourneys and ppl just rose to the challenge of finding ways to beat him consistently. Ah well.

I think they should bring back gliding for Meta Knight, Pit, and Charizard. Steve got a glide with his up B, so it feels unfair that the OGs still don't have their glides anymore

I see a lot of people in chat/comments saying that Sonic, Steve, Kazuya minmin etc are beatable characters that have even or losing MUs. And that is all true, but at the end of the day, we get to curate our playing experience, and I think it is very reasonable to remove characters who make the experience worse, even if those characters are not impossible or even unreasonable to beat. The game would very likely be better for players and viewers if Steve, Sonic, Kazuya and GnW had never been added to the game in the first place. The argument should not be “is Steve beatable, is he broken?” It should be “does this character maintain or improve the competitive and viewing experience that we are creating here in our community. We should be able to mostly agree that these characters are unhealthy for players and/or viewers and that Nintendo made the game for casuals and there decisions sometimes must be corrected to maintain competitive integrity.

I'm of the opinion he's a really high skill ceiling character in ultimate compared to smash 4, and people just haven't taken the time to perfect their gameplay with him. Not as many smash 4 players stuck with their old mains coming into ultimate, and all the new players who's first smash game is ultimate don't know all the old secrets about how to play meta knight exceptionally. That's kinda the fun thing about ultimate. There's always so much room for new players with dedication and passion to rise up with the characters they like.

There definitely should be an MK ban for Brawl in 2024 so the history of Brawl can still unfold - we can't change the past, but we can change the future - Shulk

Watching tournaments with all the talent out there and then watching a Sonic or Steve win is starting to make SSBU lose its luster. In other words, it's dulling the game at top tier levels for the common viewer. Sure, those players using those characters are amazing, and I'm not knocking them. They are great! Be PC all you want, but most of us feel this way. Congrats to wrath, as I know he's been grinding a very long time. Winning a tournament has gotta feel amazing at that level. Seems like a great guy too!

Of all the FGCs, Ken has got to be the worst against Sonic.

Someone needs to give Wrath some rope. He ruined such a potentially great tournament again.

In Ultimate I think Metaknight has a similar issue as a bunch of other underplayed mid tiers is that he is solid but ultimately redundant. With so many characters and so many matchups to prepare for there’s less incentive to squeeze every ounce out of a character’s unique kit. Instead, what you end up using are characters that do their particular thing(s) better than every other character does their particular thing(s). In that respect, Meta Knight just doesn’t have the “sauce” to stand out compared to anybody else, and his playerbase and meta development suffers as a result.
