Hello i have a questiin is it necessary to write down what students say? Do you also do it on every session?
@ELTExperiences
@ELTExperiences 14 сағат бұрын
This is a great question and thank you for your comment. For me, I try to note down as much as what the student says - both examples of good utterances as well as areas for improvement. I try to be as balanced as possible and then provide positive feedback as well as scaffold language for learners. In a way, I find making a note of what is uttered reminds me about different aspects of what the student has said and then this provides a key example of my dedication. So, yes I do this in every trial lesson.

Hello nice Ice Cream, now I want one too haha. How much did it cost to have the degree notarised in the Uk ? I am looking to Thailand as my family already live there. Great information thanks.

@ELTExperiences 8 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment and the question. When it came to having my degree notarised, I had a range of other documents to also have notarised as well. This all cost around £250 or so in total but I believe that one degree certificate costs approximately £70-£80 or so. In fact there is a company in the UK called Hague Apostille which offers competitive prices for one or a number of documents that need notarised and an apostille. More info here: www.hagueapostille.co.uk/. Hope this helps and good luck with your moving to Thailand. 😊

Thank you very much. This is excellent content, and I agree with all, that’s you have mentioned, especially a comfortable chair! Unfortunately, my daughter doesn’t Only teach five or six lessons a day. She teaches more like 8 to 10 lessons per day. That is a hectic schedule, as there’s lesson preparation, homework, feedback, and I need not go on. The reason, she has such a heavy schedule, is because as a South African, she is not regarded by most of the companies, as a native English speaker, and because of this, she is paid much less than other online teachers. This places the South African English speakers in the difficult position, of having to take on a heavier workload, in order to make a decent wage. This is patently unfair, and just because a country has so many official languages, does not indicate, that we are not native English speakers. We are indeed native English speakers, and we have accents not dissimilar from neutral British accents. We are not Afrikaans, nor Zulu speakers. Indeed, there are non native English speakers from South Africa who teach online, but that should be taken into account, when companies hire them. Our mother tongue is English. For this reason, I do wish the companies would recognise this, and pay us accordingly.

Oh, well. That’s quite an informative video! Thanks for your honesty, also. I highly appreciated, you really gave me an inside view! Since it is an English speaking country, the English teachers in state schools give actually nothing like EFL lessons, unsurprisingly. They dive into the English literature and sometimes drama and media, all of which are just not for me lol. I think most ESL teachers get unemployed within school terms since the language courses often have traffic in summer, another drawback.. But for the overall experience and particularly for those willing to see the England, it is great. I just won’t go there for anything like saving money lol. Have a good day, sir!

I am pleased that you enjoyed this video. I tried to be as candid as possible regarding the benefits and the drawbacks. The fact that everything grinds to a halt by the winter is a factor why there is much turnover in the EFL industry in the UK as well as the miserable pay, after many invest in their CPD and various qualifications. This is another reason I ended up back in South Korea.

I would recommend anyone wishing to get into EAP is to do an MA in English Language Teaching, Linguistics or Language Acquisition. There is also another route into this by doing a DELTA instead as some universities are willing to accept this as an alternative to the MA.

I’m no expert when it comes to law but after ten years, don’t records for DUI get expunged? I think in the grand scheme of things, it won’t be too problematic but always best to check online to see what the recommendation is. I’m sure you’re not the first person to encounter this. In terms of certification, the CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL are regarded as the best courses to undertake. They are worth their weight in gold and will certainly open more doors for you.
