In the beginning during processing those were the sloppiest looking group of civvies I've ever seen lol. Incredible what they become afterwards.

Almost skipped this vid, but it was Parris Island 1971, and I was there in '72. Glad I did, mostly because I was shocked to see, at 3:48, one of my DI's, Gunnery Sgt. James. Looks like he was a Staff Sgt. here. He was short, maybe around 5'5 or 5'6, but he was just about the most squared away Marine I ever encountered in my 3 years. Tough, but fair, with a good sense of humor.

I don’t think the military needs reform in the modern times, they have worse people in the military than 1971, they are not yelling all the time, and when they yell they are not malicious, and the modern day military, something is not really right or seems right, modern military seems more malicious than 1971, from videos I’ve seen

I went through Parris Island in 1972, just a year after this video was made. Still looked the same, but I don't remember wearing any silver helmet liners! Other than that, yea just a lot of screaming and a lot of physical stress!

Fast forward 40 plus years (with a pinch of the Communist / Progressive nonsense), whamo! You have the FEME version of the Marines. Drag Queens, Time Out Cards, and Snowflakes all over the place (girls and soft boys). Say good-bye to the US, and Thank you Communist Party USA (Democrats).

I went thru Parris Island from 12/8/69 to 2/14/70, 3rd battalion G company. I volunteered and wasn't drafted. I went in on the '2 year plan". my recruiter told me straight up that I would probably end up after ITR going to Westpac (Republic of South Vietnam) he wasn't too far off. I had a 4 month hiatus on Okinawa....did a float to Japan to train with the Japanese Defense Forces .while at Camp Hansen I became aware of some racial tension between black and white Marines. there were more than a few of both races that had been drafted.the Marine Corps was for the most part a VOLUNTEER branch.you knew what you were getting into when you went in. I wanted to be at the "Point of the Spear". I wasn't worried about not being promised a "Rose Garden". when I got to Vietnam, I was assigned to Alpha co 1st bat/1st marine regiment.my MOS was O351(anti tank/recoiless rifle/flame thrower/ontos driver....never saw any of that in the republic of south Vietnam

The Marine Corps has the best recruiting success because of their propaganda (lies) . The Marine Corps has the worst reenlistment failure because of reality (truth) . "The Marine Corps has a propaganda machine to rival that of Josef Stalin's" said the President of the United States, Harry Truman
