It sounds amazing live. Dave says the song is inspired by a mushroom trip, walking in the woods. The more I listen to this song, the more I notice that it is a masterpiece in the details. The guitar part for the verses is simple but very fun to play. It's kind of mesmerizing. When they're singing "it's blue, it's red, found a new door inside of my head..." that guitar part is awesome. There's a few good videos of Tim and Dave playing it

On the slide up the 4th string, He actually goes to the 6th fret and 7th of g string in between, on the walk up.

I noticed he missed that too. That's honestly the hardest part of that lick for me. I think I have my hand and fingers too tense there so it's hard to bring them together real quick like that. It also is kind of not the most intuitive. One finger moving up and the other down the fretboard to come together next to each other.

Carson, this is a song that I've been trying to understand for thirty years, but I think I've finally gotten there. Recently I listened to UTTAD all the way through and it struck me that Warehouse is the lyrical antithesis to Rhyme & Reason and I feel the music of both support the lyrics nicely. In R&R, the protagonist dies of a drug overdose falling "cold and grey to the floor" but ultimately "see[s] heaven". In that case life was bleak but heaven was at the end. Musically, the song ends with Carter providing an ethereal moment on the cymbals. A somewhat hopeful ending. Warehouse is the reverse. In it, the protagonist hopes to be "bags packed on a plane hopefully to heaven" and seems to have a vision of that toward the end of the song. It is at that point the music becomes more ethereal. We are ultimately sucked back to "my heart 's numbered beats still echo on this empty room" and our blood being poured from the hands of angles, but we fade to nothing. A bleak ending to a hopeful, optimistic life. The music supports that nothingness by simply fading away as well. That's my take at least. I'd love to hear some thoughts.

@@dennisbaker6810 what a breakdown. Seriously. I’ve never looked at it this way and honestly don’t know that I can look it any other way due to the fact that this viewpoint makes me appreciate both songs even more than I already do. Let me think on this, listen to both songs in this way, and come back to you if I think anything differently. Great analysis, man. So freaking good.

Dude i know this is way off topic of dmb and the whole video but you should check out this song and maybe if you enjoy the slick riff in it you could get around to making a tutorial for it. I have looked everywhere and cant find one plus my ears aren't trained, would be great full if you would give a listen sometime 🎵🎼🎸🎧 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p91he9d1zb68m2g.htmlsi=YLUxJyGVKEYG7tSg

I had a black Chet Atkins SST cuz of DMB. It’s a very interesting sounding guitar. Thick neck and heavy. To me, it always sounded very bright. It was a bit unnatural but it was cool live because it cut through the mix if you have drums, bass, violin and sax playing where a natural acoustic can get a lil more lost. I eventually sold it in favor of a better acoustic.

Carson, please end your instructions with you playing it from start to finish without breaks for instruction - play the complete song. You sound great, so it would be really cool to hear you play it completely through. It would be nice to listen too and sing along with while you're playing! If you have time to add the complete acoustic version in a separate video for us that would be awesome! Wonderful song to share with others as well. Thanks for the consideration!!
