Sorry for asking but im new to dcc, I'm going to build a small depot end to end, All the depot points electrofrog 6 in all are going to be hand switched only, Do I still have to cut the small wire off thanks in advance.

So you prefer to completely cover the base board with cork sheets rather than cork strips under each track?

Hi, thanks for the video. Any chance you could measure the distance between the crane rails? I'm thinking of getting one but all the info I found was the baseplate size, which I won't be using. Thanks!

Excellent video, explains the whole process well. May I ask what region of the UK you're based? I'm wondering if the solar panel ROI is worth it in North Midlands...

Thank you for a very informative video. I have a couple of questions. 1) Is the ROI of just over 4 years inclusive of the travel cost savings? What would the ROI be if these are excluded? 2) Are you located in a very sunny part of the country e.g. perhaps the south coast ?
@SolarRailway
@SolarRailway Жыл бұрын
Hi, Many thanks for taking the time to look at the data. 1a) yes 1b) have a spreadsheet running which so far says over the approximate difference if I was not to include EV / travel cost savings it would be £800 less over 6 months so roughly a ROI of 9-10 years if it was purely a solar and battery system in operation. 2) located on worcestershire. Thanks Matt

Very interesting thanks, I have a smaller system 5.6kwp but its south facing so seems to perform similarly, it seems mine is a little better in winter: Jan - 284kwh Feb - 354kwh March - 397kwh Apr 671 kwh its worth noting March was terrible weather wise we saw 50% of the usual sunshie this also carried on in to April so I expect this would be higher on a normal year. It seems being south facing makes a big difference in the winter months.

Really interesting video. I’ve been on a similar journey, solar + batteries installed mid Feb, got my first EV in March. Still waiting for MCS cert so I can apply for my SEG, but hoping to put as much surplus as possible into the car and/or hot water tank

Hoping you may have your SEG setup now , my latest update shows a good increase in surplus going to car via Zappi now the days are getting longer and getting more sun

Without being too picky, it is kilowatt hours not kilowatt per hour. The first is a total number whilst the second is a rate. Cheers

Hi. Just found your video which was really useful. I’ve also got a Z21 and am using multiple DCC concepts solenoid decoders around the layout. Recently I’ve noticed that some of the points aren’t throwing as they should and im thinking it’s because im stretching the power too thin now. Do you by any chance know if you can wire up the decoders using a different output on the Z21 rather than using the main track power output? Cheers Ian.

Ecellent footage thank you. Went to see it at Harrogate last weekend. Truly atmospheric and you have captured it well. It's the first tme I have looked to the other end of the layout and just about seen the trains coming from a distance. Just as you would went standing on a platform waiting for the next train.

As kid in the 1980s Iwe used to hang around this area and even go into the tunnel and wait for trains to come through whilst standing in those manholes on the wall. Dangerous yes, but the days when young people had common sense and knew to stay out the way of a train, haha.

Hi there, DCC controller query here, so sadly, my good friend and layout building guru has just passed away before completion of the project and subsequent handover period of the project, leaving me a little up the creek, can I clairify, am i simply able to wire in the controlller (Dynamis) to any one of the scotch blocks where there is a red and black wire ... there are point motors and booster boxes wired in as well as lighting in the inspect pits .. please can you advise ...

Like any exhibition layout. It will have been built in numerous bolt together baseboard chunks. If they are smart. more than one baseboard will rack above another, for transport. Being rather large it will probably require at least two articulated lorries to move it to another location !
