The end of leadscrews, ball screws and backlash. Pity about the cost, though I suspect that as they gain in popularity, the price will come down considerably.

There are many ways of doing linear motion, and the Cartwright linkage mechanism is another great way.

what this animation actually shows is a rotary to linear conversion by way of sliding rails, whereas a cartwright mechanism would be a much more efficient way of doing so.
