was charging yesterday my EV9 at the Supercharger location (silver not red) at 85kW speed with an adapter (tried theirs and my new Vortex from Lectron) but I can not charge at Tesla Red locations that are without an adapter not sure why I could not push Tesla plug into the adapter.

Those are Kia issues, Tesla is a car company that built infrastructure so they could sell them. Kia, should be building a charging network if they build cars that have specs not the same as the available network

The simple reason owners buy the hybrid over a pure ev and brag about never buying gas- road tripping time to charge and difficulty in finding working chargers. A hybrid saves you from home charging the same as an ev for 90%+ of your driving. Distance driving now costs the same per mile using gas as using pure electric. 10 cents a mile. A hybrid driver doesn't sit for a half hour one or more times. A hybrid owner doesn't worry about charging locations working and waiting in line.

Get any Ford with co-pilot assist + OR co-pilot assist 2.0. These will "Center the vehicle in the lane" when the road has painted lane lines and provide adaptive cruise with auto braking. This works on any road with visible lane lines!!!! The co-pilot assist 2.0 also can recognize curbs. I will not buy Ford's blue cruise hands free mode! GM does not do lane centering according to my sales rep. I will not buy or trust GM's Super Cruise! I will not buy a GM or Tesla until they have lane centering like Ford or Volvo.

The motor-generator concept is a sound one. And it is efficient due to fewer mechanical losses. If they can make it reliable it will be a solid vehicle. I'd like to think they have allowed for reasonable battery replacement in the future when better packages are available.

Ramcharger use to be a SUV from 1973-92 (like Blazer Bronco (everyone keeps acting like this is some confusing name). Just like a Ford lightning the Ramcharger is an actual name of an older truck/SUV (has zero to do with “the charger” which people keep getting all weird on? Nothing weird… They already own the name. I have an old hand me down 1975 Ramcharger. A super cool old truck with v8 4x4 and full removable top. This new truck HAS NO AUTOMOTIVE TRANSMISSION… period which is what it would have to have to be a true hybrid. It would have to have stand alone Penta with truck transmission to be a hybrid This truck has to constantly utilize the electric motors front or rear or both The 3.6 Penta is only a generation engine only (it will not be the drive motor under any conditions) because it’s electric motor driven only I think people are not figuring the mileage correctly because the generator out performs the battery pack People are complicating and giving misinformation on it being a hybrid because there is no driver control over the Penta engine as far as I understand The rear motor is smaller because of exhaust routing and fuel tank space, according to a video I watched actually using Stalantis information. It’s obviously insanely heavy because basically it has a 3/4 ton suspension (note 8 lug wheels) I’m not sure it’s worth all the craziness when honestly it’s TWO totally different concepts packed in one heavy truck I love Dodge Ram Jeep. It’s probably got sum good purposes but I’m totally not interested because of the complications that I can’t service… I WILL NOT ever buy a vehicle I can’t work on without buying thousands of dollars of diagnostics that will change constantly as this evolves.

Nothing to speculate. This would be like Ford saying, “ you know, nobody bought the Edsel.. so we are going to bring it back.” A sane board of directors would never allow that to happen. SO WHY IN THE FKUK DOES SOMEONE THINK FISKER IS A SMART INVESTMENT. Fisker was a failure, a lot of people lost money and the Karma was a piece of H$it. Only a fool would buy into it twice.

It’s incredible that the faster charge speeds aren’t something that they’re planning on bringing to the existing fleet. That’s despite the fact the battery pack is identical! It’s also beyond conscionable that even on these latest version of software, Ford doesn’t display charging speeds. It’s been asked for since the first press drives back in 2020.

Pretty neat, but they still need to fix the door handles and at least attempt to integrate the dash screen. Wow, very interesting. I originally come from Australia and normally there a home will have single phase 240 V. However, if you install a Tesla wall connector, as you pointed out, you have to wire it three phase because of the phase load balancing requirements. The electrical system in the United States has always bamboozled me somewhat because I am so used to having a three phase environment for heavy electrical loads in a household. Great explanation Alex I learned a lot, particularly that the onboard chargers are current limited, not power limited and the difference between US Mains power delivery at a residential home as compared to a commercial property. I personally would very much like to see that in the near future on board EV chargers are all rated for at least 80 Amps, vs the current 40/48Amp, as with batteries the size of the Silverado they are not simply adequate enough to take advantage of super off peak rate time periods..

With all that tech and capability, I'm still really surprised that Tesla hasn't implemented a notification that the lead car has moved or to move up to the limit line at an intersection. Tesla drivers are always 5 car lengths behind at a light or 10 seconds late to go when the light turns. It can tell you when a construction cone is on the shoulder or something is in your blindspot, but not dynamic things like pay attention and just go.

Curious why you installed the adapter to the vehicle CCS port first, and then the Tesla cable. Ford / Tesla instructions are to do exactly the opposite - adapter attaches to SuperCharger cord first - then plug the assembly to the vehicle.

@billjohnson334428 күн бұрын
@@EVBuyersGuide I actually like the way you showed - seems easier and less unwieldy when installing the cord without the adapter on it. But it would probably be hard to remove it that way in the reverse order - tricky to reach under the NACS cable and slide down the NACS release.

Unfortunate that you did not park next to the Ford F150 Lightening, not doing so eliminated 2 potential charging spots for Teslas, there should be some guidance on how to use NACS adapter or Magic Dock with cars that do not have the charging port orientation the same as a Tesla.
@EVBuyersGuide28 күн бұрын
True, the variety of charging port locations is going to effect the efficiency and availability of these charging spots.
