Daiwa is good stuff. But a 5" spook? That's time to use a baitcaster. You can work it better. It's more accurate. Casts heavier line easier. I use Daiwa Tatula Coastal 200TW's and Tatula 300's.

What’s your technique when it comes to jigging? I’ve been fishin my heart out this week but only had luck in live bait so far
@bocagaff
@bocagaff 4 ай бұрын
For topwater spooks, you try to “walk the dog.” I’m sure there’s KZfaq videos that can explain it better but in short, you pop the lire and allow some slack to go out in between pops. This creates the back and fourth motion. It takes some practice but once it clicks it becomes a feel thing. Hope that helps!

@@bocagaff yep I’m familiar with that. We use that method a lot in Maryland fishing for stripers. I was more referring to how you seem to be fishing in some other setups in your other videos
@bocagaff
@bocagaff 4 ай бұрын
Ah gotcha. When jigging I’m always sure to leave the bail open till the jig hits the bottom exactly where it hit the water. Other than that, cold water= painfully slow retrieve, sometimes even just “dead sticking.” Warmer water I like to speed it up a bit, but “pop pop pause” seems to be the ticket always.
