Its just a canal, whats fus about it. They may build boardwalk and sports areas around it for cycling, jogging, some parks if they smart about it, water parks... Eco park, wild garden.... Build Pedestrian bridge, cafes on the bridge, something interesting... Give it up for auction to developers for play area, not condos.

If they are rebuilding the entire area, surely some roundabouts could have been built in.

Can't believe all of the sour comments here. This is a landmark project for Toronto that accomplishes so many objectives including flood control, new parkland and space for new housing. It also exceeds expectations with regards to design excellence, with its iconic bridges and beautiful vistas of the ever expanding skyline. And the 1.3 billion price tag is a relative bargain compared to, say, the cost of a new baseball stadium. Hell, the entire project costs about half what the final bill for The One condo tower will be--if that debacle is ever completed. As a former longtime Torontonian I feel very proud of this project and I think it reflects extremely well on the city. I also want to add my plaudits for the amazing dronework on display here. Keep it up! (pun intended) Looking forward to the next one!

It really looks like a waste of space. There could be the same green areas, flood protection, but also give much more space for people to enjoy.

People will always find something negative - Even if the project somehow costs $10 million and was finished in 6 months, people will still complain about why it wasnt finished quicker, why it wasnt cheaper, etc. Bitter people in a bitter mood.

@@CzedYman except it never is finished on time and under budget, and the results are always sub par and 20 years behind every other major metropolitan area. you are the model Canadian, settling for whatever they give you even if it comes at the cost of your own interests and the future of your society.

There's so much construction in Toronto......neverending construction. It's like they are building a city from scratch. Now with all the land they've "saved" developers will come in and build overpriced condos. If u can afford the condo you don't want it because of constant gridlock and yes...prices are just insane. Three things Toronto likes 1. Waiting in lines (see the nonsense when Shake Shack opened) 2. Construction clogging every major artery at the same time 3. Construction projects being inflated in budget and ridiculously behind schedule

It’s not necessary for us, it necessary for Trudeau to be corrupted. This is what he learned from his Chinese masters how to corrupt by creating infrastructure projects and In name of the political correctness, no one can criticize Trudeau. But this good for nothing unnecessary project, Trudeau came to Toronto to endorsed, he is the most beneficial person to be corrupted by this project

This footage does show the progress that is being made on the planned Ontario Line. @musicforaarre Thanks Jonathan for posting this great footage of our neighbourhood while the construction is ongoing. There is just so much of it. Only a drone does it best. I always wanted to see those smoke stacks from that angle. You better be there when Metrolinx turns 388 Carlaw into condos and does a demolition of the smoke stacks. I'll be on my roof filming it as well.

There is no Ontario Line construction at all in this video, except that land has been cleared on the west side at Eastern Ave at the end of the video. All of the construction on the east side (our left) of the 2 remaining tracks, is, as you know for GO and VIA track widening to 4 tracks. Once the tracks are moved to the east after fill, retaining walls, and sound walls will be built, then the two current working tracks that you see on the west side will be removed, and the running tracks moved to the far east (left side). That will give enough room to build the Ontario Line in the trees/bushes/embankment on the west side (our right). The current two GO/VIA tracks will be reinstated slightly to the east of where they are now; they will become local/stopping tracks. There will, as you know, be 6 total tracks here. The two easternmost will be express tracks, and the center tracks will be local tracks for stopping trains. To say that there is Ontario Line construction shown in this video is a lie, as there ISN'T ANY YET, except maybe the white access ramp at 0:16 on the right side of the tracks. Aarre Peltomaa

1:52 Do you know why the two main line tracks widen out here ? It is because there used to be a passenger train platform just north of Queen St for a long time here. Aarre Peltomaa of Mississauga

Had they elevated Line 5 instead of making it into a ridiculous cross between a Subway and a Streetcar, it would have been up and running by now. The street level portions are what is hampering what should be a completely grade separated line. That's why it's way past schedule and over budget - the design itself is broken.
@bobsobie678

The design was fine. Issues: underpinning of Line 1 took longer than expected, materials and equipment being stolen, weather, drug use, shoddy workmanship , etc.
