If i understand correctly the fox 3 missiles,they have a range ar wich thier radar activates.Untill they reach that range they need help from the plane's radar.

Love all the Harrier's but, fox3's really screw the whole game imo. Takes away most of the fun and grindy gameplay.

Still pisses me off that they havent put in the proper HUD for the Sea Harriers ever since they were introduced. Its absolutely useless, it does not show locked targets because its only for ground attack (its from the GR1/3/ Jaguar) and Gaijin still havent done anything about it!

Yep, me too! I have bug reported it numerous times. It's the same with the Tornado F.3. That should have a more modern air to air HUD

Hey Toastman I was there flying with you. I was in the MiG 19S. From my knowledge when you ping T-4-1(on me, folow me) its just to let your position to be known. If you are engaged in combat you ping T-4-2 (need backup, cover me). When someone pings that I rush there immediately if im in range to be there. Great game that was! o7

I don't have this green rectangle appears on target when you lock. How do I turn that on? I don't know who am I locked for missile launch at times lol.

Gaijin removed that green box from the game. You won't get it unless your plane has it in the HUD.

@@CptToastman Wow. I was feeling so lost not making it work lol. I am quite new so I was thinking that was caused by some settings or something. How do we understand which plane we are locked to on Sim battles then? I've had some situations locking on to friendly planes some times.

your absolutely insane playing with vsync on and playing with only 60 fps you are setting your self up a handicap with latency by an insane amount if you had any brain what so ever you would look into what u were doing before you go and do it it doesnt matter what u record or whatever u are saying ur game needs to be optimized to the fullest your hardware is capable of handling obs will record in 60 and your game can stillplay in a higher fps which will also reduce latency which is HUUUGE in any game that requires you to out pace an opponent

time ago 1h game with few kills and capture could give you near to 100k research point and tons of lions. Now seems like 1h playing sb gives you the same ammount as rb. Absolutely shame

Do you know if this video was before or AFTER the RWR update that made them much more realistic? The regular mig21 bis now is unplayable because it cannot pick up any pd radar. Does this one do? I was interested in getting it with the sales, but only if the RWR is actually useful, I dont want to die from aim7 that i didnt even know were fired

yeah i have to agree, the r77 never seems to hit if not fired extremely close. i think part of that is the seem to try to loft, and then cant see the target if you lose your tws on them. i dont expect the missiles to be good, but ingame its a little sad. though in dcs i usually also skip the r77s when doing bvr, or take them as a 27et replacement. i also feel like radars were changed too? im having locks drop on small maneuvers, it feels like notching has been redefined to +/- 50 degrees from the notch. i will say though, a good amount of the issues you were having here is your unfamiliarity with radar tilt up and down; i do see you using it, but a lot of the time youre also looking for an enemy with your radar at the wrong direction. simple tip is that center line on the elevation axis is always actually your planes nose, not the horizon. center the scan box on that line if you want to be looking off your nose, i generally prefer to scan below the nose while in level flight. also if your hotas permits i really do recommend switching off the automatic target cycling, and switching to cursor control. mostly because having a selected target now autoslews your radar to it in tws, which means your radar will often be left pointing at a wrong altitude anytime it sees a weird return.

2:34 that’s funny that the R-77 can’t reach straight flying targets outside NEZ, I mean your first R-77 was launched from ~25km with initial 1.6M speed and 20k feet altitude and it didn’t reach the F-16 that was flying straight into you lmao, even the R-24R would kill him in this case

Along with this radar which takes eternity to refresh. The R-77 requires you to come closer, but this radar just kick your balls The narrow mode which any other aircraft has could solve this issue

@@D0gEAtD0g The Flankers really feel lackluster in comparison, the terrible flight model doesn’t help either. I used to fly low and use IRST and R27ET’s but now they’ve buffed the Radar missiles this is impossible especially because Nato aircraft spot you from 40km away. The unbalanced teams is also not helping. You’re always outnumbered 3-1 in Sim battles because all the sheep wants the easy kills..

IRL the AIM-120B has more advanced electronics (new processor, new EPROM instead of ROM RAM and a different control System WGU-41/B) than the AIM-120A. The German F-4F ICE gets the AIM-9Li, which are more flare resistant AIM-9Ls AFAIK, but in War Thunder they behave like AIM-9Ms.

The AGM-65G is a Navy Variant with a larger warhead than the D IRL to fight ships. It’s considerably bigger than the D variant and also a lot heavier. For the F-20: I like to carry an asymmetrical loadout of 1 AIM-7F and 4 AIM-9Ls, because for me the AIM-7F equals one safe kill.

On the radar screen you can see a line from your missle to the enemy plane, when it dissappears its gone pitbull

If you notch it then chaff it while doing so, then continue burning creating speed descending altitude then turn back in when the missile is getting closer complete burning the amraam of its energy. That's working for me. Baring in mind I start climbing to 5000m first then find the targets which are highest up and engage those first making them manoeuvre for you. Be the aggressor not the defender.

Because the RWR just detects radar waves coming at your plane and hitting you. Just because your RWR is going off doesn't mean they can actually see you yet, because the radar waves have to hit YOU and then go all the way back to the plane sending them strong enough for the radar to pick back up. This is the same reason you can't always see enemies on your radar when your RWR can, the waves have to make it all the way back to you, so theoretically, your RWR will pick up radar signals about 1.5-2x further away than that radar can actually detect you at (of course this depends on the sensitivity of the RWR and the radar). This is a completely real effect.
