I meet up with friends about once a month to watch the match at the pub and i drink 0% beers i find this helps combat loneliness , Boredom and stress . I do find it hard sometimes getting used to doing things without alcohol but i am sticking with it i feel like a fish out of water

Shit into fertiliser. Absolutely. I'm not drinking and the shit is just teaching me how to fertilise. Growing good relationships, knowledge consumption and very importantly retention. Shit into fertiliser, love it 🔥

Thanks, I appreciate what you say because I've forgotten some of those really early days and how very hard they can be. Your talk brings back the feelings I had, and the hard space my brain was in. I feel so deeply humble and grateful to have lived the last 25 or so years sober. I have loved ones, health, and a content life. If not for being sober, I would be dead. For people posting here, it can be so hard, never thought I'd manage it for a start, had a real attitude on me. Often you might be told that your life will be better sober. I'm saying that for me there's NO comparison. Sober is the life I should have had and never knew it. I wish that for all of you who've made life changing decisions.

The acquisition of knowledge about myself and using it to pursue a deeper richer life has taken over big time. It sounds self absorbed i know but im not only more interested in being of service to others and a higher good than before but ive actually got the balls to follow through now im sober. Its a beautiful thing. Just like those mountains your hiking in brother. Thanks again for another great talk. Onwards and upwards 💪🔥🙏

Thanks for the video Kevin. It is very early days for me. I am moving house. Yesterday there was bad news and things haven't gone to plan. I caught myself unconsciously saying out loud 'getting drunk is not going to help this'. This made me smile (a lot). Also yesterday I thought about past failed relationships. I thought about how huge those split-ups were at the time and how they seemed like the world was ending. I hardly ever think about them today, they are no longer of any meaningful importance to me or my life. This is where I hope to get with alcohol, as huge as alcohol has been in my life I am hoping it will just end up as unimportant as those past failed relationships. My relationship with booze has definitely failed! Day 6 here. All the best to anyone reading this.

I'm off alcohol 5 months. The golf society I'm a member of is based at an expat bar. I confessed quickly when I got asked had I quit alcohol and in fairness many of the guys were very encouraging. I did note that the heaviest drinkers in the group, those who were definitely alcoholics, didn't like it and would make snide remarks. I never hung around the bar long after we came back from golf day trip. I cola to be sociable and I was gone. It was just too uncomfortable. Too much boozy shite talk.

I agree. There is zero down side to not drinking. Only upside. I would definitely doubt anyone could be dry for even a month and not say they felt better and most ordinary folk will see a decent bump to their finances.

Yep. Took a little bit to recover dopamine health. I do have a reasonably supportive home life though, no chaos, i know thats difficult if you dont. Taken about a year for a good feeling of general health, problems still exist. Like teeth are pretty bad. Hoping to replace them and therefore remove that problem. So the longer term repercussions 'hangover' is still going and thats improving. Its a big deal for me remembering how ill i was, a deal breaker. I do not want that poison ethanol in me again. Onwards and upwards friends 💪 🔥

Great video, Kevin! Hangover symptoms are primarily caused by the effects of alcohol consumption on the body. Here's some of the causes: 1. Dehydration 2. Electrolyte imbalances 3. Inflammation 4. Disruption of sleep patterns 5. Hormonal changes The severity of hangover symptoms can vary depending on factors like the amount of alcohol consumed, hydration levels, individual physiology, and other lifestyle factors. Drinking water, getting rest, and taking over-the-counter pain relievers can help alleviate some hangover symptoms. Take Care Everyone!👋❤

Been almost a year and my tiredness hits in the afternoon and its this genuine sleepiness like I had as a kid. I work hard and have alot of chores so its not surprising but I used to crack a beer and have a burst of fake energy to keep going. Now I sit and chill for a moment, stretch my back , breathe and then I can get up and go again but when I fall asleep its real! Its deep sleep with not alot of interruptions then boom....I'm awake in the morning. NOTHING like the shallow passing out I did for years of beers. Mu

I truly believe alcohol has demonic entities in it. When I had withdrawals it was tormenting me calling my name. Every time I glimpsed a bottle of alcohol when withdrawing the voice in my head in a tormenting way kepy saying 'don't pretend you've not seen it, go and drink it now or I'm not going away'. I had an experience through breathwork which showed me something filled with love that removed the desire to drink ever again and that was just over 5 years ago. Fast forward to now and my on off partner is a full on alcoholic. We were in bed once and I could see her struggling. I felt the presence of a dark energy in the room and remembered if you spoke the name of Jesus Christ demons leave your presence. I said it in my head and the energy lifted. These are personal undeniable experiences for myself. I truly believe alcohol is something more shady than just a drink.

My guy literally drank so much he had a heart attack and died. I died too. Not the same person. So if you drink, be aware this can happen. Get sober to save yourself, and if anyone or anything other than that poison still means something to you, consider them too.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but it seems like the overwhelming majority of the younger generation under 30 nowadays don’t drink alcohol at all. Video games and smartphones are their dopamine rush! It’s older folks that do it! I think alcohol can be a great thing and it can also be a very horrible thing. When I saw that All in the Family episode with the little girl’s father in a cold sweat going through alcohol withdrawal and blackmailing the Bunker’s for money to keep her, that seems like the worst case scenario.

I think I was waiting for some event to quit (like a big promotion or my kid or DUI), even though I wasn't a get drunk and fight guy, I still drank most nights a week and did enough to make a fool of myself here and there throughout the years. I stopped one day because a friend made a jokey bet with me (emailed me a form for me to sign) that if he smoke or if I drank in the next six months, we'd have to pay the other a grand. I decided to take the gag seriously. It wasn't ceremonious really. It's only been over a month but I sense already that what will keep me going is to not make it a big deal. Sounds weird right? But if I blow it up to be something serious, I'll obsess over it. I just keep thinking just not tonight. So far that's added up to more days I've been dry than since I was 21. I'm 30 now. Hopefully this gave you something to chew on. Keep saying not tonight!

@careerintransit thank you, yes, I know what you are getting at and I agree. I struggle with people that haven't drank in 40 years and they still call themselves an "alcoholic " I love drinking beer and playing video games. I do it every night, it's fun, but why do I need the beer. Why not water. There is something there that I need to extinguish. A bottle of sprite is $2 a six pack is $12. I started cutting my visitation short with my son just so I can get home and drink beer and play Elden ring, I'm 47, time to make a choice. Been doing this for over 7 years now.
