I've had good results with light sanding followed by using Kilz Adhesion, and, like you said, LET IT DRY a few days! Great advice. For two Ikea pieces after prep, I used the Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte Charcoal Water-Based Acrylic Chalk Paint for my computer desk last year, and Annie Sloan Old White Stock Paint on a bookcase that came out absolutely stunning!! Most say that you do not need to prime or sand using Chalk Paint, but going through the initial steps of sanding and using a primer will go a long way to solidifying that color on a repaint!

I will try Kilz next time! Thank you. I’m really glad you had a good experience with chalk paint! I painted a wood frame mirror and it chipped before I even hung the mirror 😂

We followed all the steps, but our cabinets have chipped in a few places. I think the only thing we have have done wrong is to not leave long enough for the second coat of primer. It’s all installed in to the wall now so I really don’t want to pull them out. I might remove the doors and try re-priming and painting them as the doors have suffered most! Thanks for this excellent video!

I know it’s really frustrating when paint chips. If it’s small spots you can try doing a little touch up paint. It won’t be too noticeable

Try to sand between priming or painting layers

What do you suggest that’s pretty much bullet proof? My wife is very hard on everything from floors to doors to glass to cloth. You get what I mean.

Sometimes less is more and there will be a time you wont always feel this way. Over time you can rebuild with lower maintenance plants like cacti, succulents and things that don't require constant attention. You can have more time to enjoy yourself, as well as freeing up space with smaller and easier plants. My papa used to clear out his once a year, in spring we would bring them all outside to clean/replant/transplant. The ones that couldn't last a winter in our weather zone would stay indoors, but often times we were allowed take the ones that could survive outdoors and make our own little gardens with them. Took cuttings and rerooted some and gave some to family and friends. We had fun learning about plants that way and I've had a green thumb ever since!

I have over 80 plants, it looks great but seriously no one talks about the upkeep it takes to continue to be great. It can be so stressful. I can’t imagine taking care of all those plants plus kids, some people may not understand but I hope you feel less stressed out! Even if it’s less green. Maybe one day you and your children can learn to garden together ❤
