1990 I took a snowmobile safety class put on by our snowmobile club the Cornbelt Driftbusters, and we watched this, and got a bunch of other John Deere snowmobile safety stuff, as the old guy putting on the class was a former Deere snowmobile dealer

I wish they still made them, I never rode one. If someone with experience on one would tell me how they drove and handled, that would be nice. I mean like on straight aways and on curves too.

In '82 in SW Illinois, we had a blizzard , dad just got me a Spitfire. Man, I rode that little baby day and night. Still have it today, all original. Great little machine.

I had the 1977 spitfire I could ride wheelies on it I rebuilt it up to be a mean machine. Took it to the Gresham radar runs in Gresham, Wisconsin a few years back just to show it off . Love that machine .

Dad added John Deere Sleds to his Dealership line in 1978. We were a Cat, Kawasaki, Yamaha and John Deere dealer that year. In 1979, Dad dropped Yamaha out as they were not selling as well as the Cats, Kawasaki and John Deere were.

My best friend in the 90s had one of these. I remember many a Friday night on the Salt River, ripping up and down on the ice. Good times... Simpler times...

While John Deere no longer makes snowmobiles, it does make a recreational product - Gator ATVs and side-by-sides.

Talking bout all that stuff to bring with you... if only these sleds had a place to put everything other than the little pouch under the hood. LOL. Guess they fixed that later with the huge storage compartment in the fire series
