Very cool mod! I’m inspired to try something similar. The SRK is one of my favorites. I’ve had 3 or 4 of them since the early 1990s. Never broken or lost one. Always gave them away to someone who needed a good knife. As a matter of fact, just gave away my last one to a younger guy on my recent trip to ZA. I’m pondering whether I should replace it with an SRK or SRK-C. I do still have a Recon Tanto with a similar Secure-Ex sheath. My wife is a weaver in a factory that makes webbing for the military. We’ve always got some scraps lying around.

@WildBlueYonderDay3 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching, good to hear you're adapting your knife collection to your lifestyle. Knives are tools and their applications vary so much. So many folk are locked into the idea, that there is one knife out there that can do everything. it's easier to keep a small variety of blades, and carry each knife as is appropriate for your destination / activities that day.

I have the SP51 and specifically got it because of the saber grind. Probably the best chopper I have. I got the BK9 but after realizing that it has weak skeletonized handles, I replaced it with the 1/4" 5160 RD9 with non-skeletonized handles. I also put the contoured TKC orange G10 handle scales on it So the SP51 and RD9 are my go to backpack blades. The reason I liked Ontario so much is because they are affordable and I got the RD6, RD7 and RD9 for the price of a custom.

I was in the corps from ‘64 to ‘70 and bought a MK2 in San Diego in ‘64. The knife only has US Camillus NY stamped on the blade by the blade guard. The blade has the phosphate treatment. I know that Camillus had the first contract to make MK2’s for the US in WW2 and that they produced more of these knives than KaBar. Any thoughts about the vintage of my knife since Camillus must have sold their surplus knives after WW2?
I have the SP43 and always liked it. I have a lot of the SP line and I got them because they are 5160 mid-carbon steel. I've got the SP6-94, SP6-95, SP17, SP43, SP46, SP49 and SP51. Also got the beast RD6, RD7, RD9 and RD Tanto because of the 5160. I wish I would have gotten the SP19 and SP10 back then. The SP51 and RD9 are supreme choppers. The SP6-94 and SP6-95 are supreme stabbers. The SP43 and SP46 are nice slicers. The more I handle the SP46 Boar Skinner, the more I like that big belly.

Brilliant! Your video popped up on my feed and it reassured what I’m doing on my old Parabody equipment will work with your pulley system. I was able to fasten the eye bolts (replacing frame bolts) to the outside of my frame at the top and bottom. This will allow the 3 pulleys to be used as a functional trainer at the top and bottom of the frame. I have selectorized weight stack and now I can utilize it with a lot more exercises, I literally saved thousands with this fix. Thank you!

Is the screw pattern the same? Like, could the scales be swapped? Aside from the actual bolt size difference.
@WildBlueYonderDay7 ай бұрын
I'm not sure. Unfortunately these knives are both new, so I won't be pulling them apart to find out.
@ATOMSKI_MRAV6 ай бұрын
It sure looks the same. The Esee screws look slightly smaller though but I'm sure you could swap the scales from the Esee 6 or 5 to the RAT7 although probably not possible the other way around considering the RAT7 screws and tube are probably bigger.
@jimbusmaximus46245 ай бұрын
I'm retiring my RAT7, it's served me well for 15 years. I was thinking about getting an Esee 6 and putting my custom scales on it, but nobody seems to have a definitive answer.
@WildBlueYonderDay5 ай бұрын
@@jimbusmaximus4624 with the screw heads being different sizes, it stands to reason that the threaded bush that goes through the tang is going to be narrower, so the bushes from the Esee would be loose in the Rat tang and the Rat bushes wont fit the Esee tang holes. The scales themselves may work? however the holes on the RAT scales may be a little large and deep, having had larger screws used on them, but check it out and let us know how it goes.
