I had a terrible experience my first time out trying this. I found my first ever core asteroid, low temp diamonds. I set my charges and amazingly I got it right. I almost blew myself up because I didn't get away fast enough but, hey, it was my first time. Then I panicked because my limpets weren't collecting anything. I'd left my cargo scoop closed. No problem, fixed that. Then my limpets were dying instantly. I was shaken up by almost dying and hadn't noticed I'd stopped right above another asteroid that was instantly destroying my limpets. No worries, I moved. Then finally, as they start collecting and bringing back diamonds, I get an error message. I'd forgotten to install my refinery before I left the station. I had to abandon everything.

You can bait them to. Carry some pods drop out of highwake and jettison them and wait. They will drop in to collect them and you can ambush them.

It's growing on me. I like the pointy nose just not the hook. Always felt like they could have made the forward landing gear match the entry steps. Like when u push button the steps come down sliding into the fwd landing gear. That way we keep the pointy nose and the x1 bay but get rid of that ugly nose hook. But anyway it's growing on me.

I was kinda meh about the 400i, looks cool and all except the nose, smaller in most aspects compared to the connie or msr. My friend has a connie and i have a MSR. And a 600i so i got the middle to large covered. Then by chance i rented a 400i during invictus. And was blown away. Its cozy in almost every aspect, room for friends but a awesome daily driver for a solo pilot, outside of heavier combat missions, but from getting from point a to point b, maybe a few bunker missions. Or just out flying. I was impressed, its everything i wanted my cutty black to be outside of combat. And super cozy for a solo pilot or a friend or 2. Only thing i wish it had is interior paint schemes. the white is cool with blue light it definatly feels steril and cold. Having some grey's or blacks with some gold and yellow warmer lighting would be perfect. Ended up ccu'ing my cutty to 1.

Once upon a time, if your detonation was too low, you got a 2nd crack at it if there was a fissure left. You didn't get the yield of a successful detonation, but it was something. I tried that last night (Been a while and I'm out of practice) and the charges just bounced off. I guess the consolation prize 2nd crack has been taken out?

If 42 SCU is "enough" why do the Aquilla and Corsair (the most direct competitors) get 96 and 72 SCU respectively? Heck, why does the Carrack need 456 SCU? I think its a good sign, that if all the other exploration ships have large cargo capacities, then that's likely going to be a requirement for the role. The 400i (which I have) feels a lot like the first iteration of the 300i (which I also have) and 600i... Lots of potential, but the design lacked direction and the result fell short. For example the 400i, being a 3-person ship, cannot carry a ground vehicle that can hold all its crew (like an Ursa or G12). Yet it has 4 escape pods (for 3 crew) taking up valuable space in the cargo bay (escape pods that are as far from the bridge that it is possible to be). It has expansive climate controlled engine rooms, yet is so inefficient at using the space, it has to keep half the components in the cargo bay walls too. And while it has 3 turrets, they can only really fire backwards, so is impossible to focus fire on an attacker, resulting in weak defences. They filled the void space between the airlock and bike garage with a gravity generator that no other ship needs, instead of allowing direct access to your hoverbike from inside the ship. The view from the pilots seat is terrible and the internal and external windows barely line up. And the holo table area gives the distinct impression the devs didn't know quite what to do with it, because in the original concept there was a pool there, so the space feels awkward and underused as a result. If they 'just' moved the components from the cargo bay to the copeous engine rooms and the escape pods to the top deck hallway, they could have an 80 SCU cargo bay (which could fit a G12) in the same space. The turrets could be moved to the wing tips to improve arcs of fire and allow the top deck to be stretched by a couple meters to allow the relocation of the escape pods. If they got rid of the gravity generator (or switched it with the bike bay) you would get access to the bike from the inside of the ship. Moving the pilots seat forward and up would make the visibility so much better. And changing the rear section of the habitation deck to be either more useful or at least a nicer place to take in the view. These are not massive changes, but would really make the 400i feel like it actually had some planning gone into it.

I love the 400i but you are factually wrong. Having 42 SCU of cargo is not appropriate for it's crew size and class, the Cutlass Black has 46 and is almost a third of the price. Same can be said about the guns, it's laughably undergunned and it sports less missiles and guns than a Conny while the latter also gives you more than double the space for cargo AND a snubfighter included for 10usd LESS. The only redeeming factor of this ship is how good it looks and how well the interior space is utilized but that's peanuts it you ain't gonna use it for ANYTHING. Looking good is not a game loop and this is not a luxury transport, it's an EXPLORATION vessel on the same class as the Constallation and the Corsair. I don't care how cool or well designed it is, it ain't worth it unless they wake up and actually redesign it so it can actually compete with the rest.

If you ever decide to ditch the supercruise assist, one of the ways I go through supercruise is by throttling at 100% towards my target (unless there’s a thing in the way) until the timer hits about 7 seconds, 6 also works better ish but is scarier, then you throttle down to 75% which you can actually bind to its own key, so you can keep the throttle at 100 then hit that key and let go of your keyboard. Doing this at 6 seconds is a bit better because it will keep the timer at 6 seconds the whole way through, but 7 is safer

I feel this ship is an incredible refinement of Origin design. The complaints about the 400i are about its cargo and combat capacities. But that is because the other vehicles fit multiple roles better, while the 400i is honed like a razor to fit the job of exploration and to do it in style. It is as if the designers asked themselves "what do we need to fulfill this job?" Then they removed everything else. It is perfection of efficiency crafted with the finest of care.

How do you “melt down” vehicles?
@OrbitalJeffo
@OrbitalJeffo Жыл бұрын
On the RSI website under your Hangar, some ships can be turned in for store credit. This process is known as "melting" a ship. Read the fine print when doing this option. Some ships can't be purchased with store credits, though most can. I got rid of my Connie in order to get the 400i. Also, ships that have been gifted to you may not be eligible to melt down (I think, double check me on this).

Great video. Mining is indeed still very profitable and not super difficult. Especially pay attention to limpets people! Remember, limpets are cheap and expendable. If anything just fill your inv up with them. You can always jettison if needed. They are dirt cheap. Its always better to have too many than not enough!

I have a billion in credits and I still mine. I got lucky and started out when painite and low temperature diamonds hit an insane boom at the same time a new rich source within the bubble was found. You could even surface mine it without too much searching. It let me buy my first ship capable of both lasers and core mining. Right now, Monazite is about the most lucrative mineral. Pulse wave analyzers combined with the night vision function can help sort out the asteroids with deep deposits. The game mapping can show black grid lines or odd colors when you pulse in quick succession. It's a glitch that shows the ones that spawned with core deposits
