A month late to this, but I would just like to say that I really appreciate the team doing these "State of micro.blog"-videos, so: thanks!

I LOVE this. I hate deadlinks. So for every page I link to on my (non-Micro.blog) blog I keep a cached copy. Then if I ever notice it's dead I replace the original. But it's quite manual. So it's great to know that I can do this for my Micro.blog much more automatically.

This social media conversation is very fascinating. In a way, I think the current situation we are in started with the Cambridge Analytica crises. Some people started seeking alternatives, and that never stopped as other small crises kept happened, culminating with Twitter acquisition. However, there was never a single place we all agreed to go to, and now we have all these different “cultures” on all these different social media Christina mentioned. For someone who is a creator, that's terrible. The Fediverse concept is pretty interesting and may be a way to replicate the small Twitter communities Jean referred to. But, I think it would take more big platforms like Threads to adopt ActivityPub to make the Fediverse mainstream.

Here are some timestamps, for anyone who finds them useful: 00:00 Hello & Welcome 00:15 Introducing Om 01:46 Early days 03:06 These days 06:30 Owning the verb 07:32 Changes to Twitter 10:48 Where things are going 13:12 "we have imposed metrics on the act of creation" 16:37 Fediverse and the next generation 18:20 Open source keeping up with tech giants 21:43 Meta joining the Fediverse 25:09 | QUESTIONS | 25:12 "What do you think about having different blogger personas?" 26:00 "Dave's (Winer) been pushing the idea of Textcasting for a while. What is your opinion of what he is talking about; do you think this stands a chance of establishing itself as a principle?" 28:08 "In a lot of ways it feels like mass blogging turns increasingly toward communication tools. How do you think about the asynchronous (mostly) one way publish and read world versus the two way communication world?" 29:25 "With some teenagers opting for dumb phones, and looking for more disconnect, is a platform like Micro.blog the way of the future - out of the way, just lets you blog, without the need to compete (i.e. get likes or re"tweets" and achieve "influencer" status)?" 33:23 - About Glass, then back to questions -> 36:12 "Do you feel like Web3.0 has or will reach a point of saturation and what might be next?" 37:17 "Do you think, at some point, that we lost the distinction between communications platforms, and broadcast platforms? I think that's at the core of a lot of these issues around chasing interactions, likes, comments etc." 38:45 "Om, do you think Glass and Micro.blog are similar in that they cater less to the analytics-obsessed world and more to the idea of just trying to share your words and photos with other people?" 40:17 | QUESTIONS finished | About WordPress 41:12 Getting more people blogging 49:16 We'll leave it at that. I thought this conversation was fantastic. It is both worth repeat listening and a great way to start Micro Camp.

Hello .. I'm KZfaq marketer I visited your KZfaq channel, Your content is so so good but SEO is very low. channel tags, video tags, and Topics low. If your channel is properly managed then Your will be views and subscribers. Good result.

I tried this, and it totally did not work. Somewhat frustrating, as it seems simple enough. When I publish from Drummer, no posts show up in my micro blog.

Any thoughts about making micro.blog open source? Like could I run it in a docker / self hosted? For example, in running ghost self hosted. Write Freely is another example of something that’s similar to micro.blog that is able to be self hosted as well.

We've thought about it, but because the platform is really a mix of a few different things together - blog hosting, social network, curation, subscriptions, etc. - it is difficult to split out in a way that would be useful to self-host right now. Instead, we're focusing on open sourcing everything else… We've open sourced all our native apps for iOS and macOS, and all our blog themes based on Hugo.
