When the mouthpiece is not in use, the reed will sit flat and even, but during play, the reed "sucks down" and seals. @@jjBabbittOfficial All modern production is poor, the mouthpieces are inconsistent and do not work well with the reeds. They all need a reface so that they play well and easily. Neither the new EB nor the new Meyer Bros are doing well and you have also increased their price. Talk to great craftsmen like Brian Powell...

@@jatopan79I recently (back in Dec.) got a brand new Tenor Otto Link Tone Master Vintage 7*. Out of the box with a D’Addario Jazz Select 3S reed sealed and it played amazing. Stuff your complaints in a sack.
