@lonbites The company I work for builds crab traps in both 14 and 12 gage wire, 12 being the most popular with customers and we use inch and a half by inch and a half meshes. Since I don't know where your located, the best I can do is tell you to look up Riverdale Mills Corporation, we get all our wire through them and they list their local distributors. @cyberpine I work in the industry, it appears to be 12 gauge wire, no it wont bend easily to make an open box without a manual or automatic bending machine to square it off..

what guage and seperation is that mesh? Does it bend to make an open box easily? thanks.

@C3Traps, Not sure what its called, but it curles staples around the wire mesh. Sort of like a staple gun but it curles them around the wire, not just push them in.
