You can tell a lot about a person depending on who raised them. This movie portrays that perfectly

You know it’s funny. As a kid when this movie came out I didn’t understand all of the stuff with Jenny and all that. But as an adult going back and re-watching I can tell you for one thing that initially I felt sorry for Jenny. Especially when you taken consideration the fact that you know she had a pretty rough life. But at the same time, honestly, I actually grew to quite hate the character. I mean, you have this one guy. This one man, Forrest Gump. Who has shown that pretty much no matter what he loves her. As we know at one point, he even stated that while he knew he wasn’t a smart man he knew what love was. Now I admit that part of me things that the reason she never really wanted to stay with him was because maybe she felt like because of her spiraling life she wasn’t really fit for him. But even so as an adult it actually isn’t that hard to really dislike the character of Jenny.

This really shows how Jenny used Forrest. Yeah, you can say she had a rough upbringing, but she’s an adult she’s responsible for her own choices. She chose to do this.

At no surprise to those of us analyzing the series' local handling, this scene is obviously cut from the Syndication Package and as a result tonight (July 0I0 of 2024) is the first time that I have seen this since its original airings on Fox (in my case, WFXT; formerly Fox 025, presently Boston 025); to be truthful though, this scene was probably cut for the strict content guidelines imposed by relevant councils and the FCC, rather than for time, it is the same reason that the scene with Peter literally forcing the Big Wheel on The Price is Right to break off its Axle ("Paramedics, Come on Down!") was omitted in the package and as a result you are pretty much forced to either find the episode on Cable, Online, or get the DVD release to view it with everything fully intact, fortunately the viewer base won't keep these moments of the series left in the shadows and it is genuinely welcoming to come back to them many years to even decades after their First Run.

@@jumpman8476 So, Forrest represents God. He loves Jenny, he is good and selfless, and although Jenny comes in and out of his life he remains loyal to her- always willing to accept her with open arms regardless of her mistakes and intentions. Jenny represents the common religious person. She is a hypocrite, selfish, does as she wishes. She says she loves Forrest, but only in words and not in action. And in the end, when Jenny is facing her mortality - and after she’s lived her life on her own terms - does she finally return back to Forrest. Not because she loves him, but because she loves herself. She has a child and is dying, so again she’s using Forrest under the guise that she’s now ready to settle. Old folks do the same. After a life of sinful fun and gross hypocrisy, they decide now is the time to get “right with God” and shove him down peoples throats lol What a crock of shit. In reality though, God isn’t mentally retarded. But people who believe in the religious God sure do treat him like he is 🤦🏻‍♂️ Feynman said it best “The first principle is that you must not fool yourself, and you are the easiest person to fool.”

@pvargas123
@pvargas123 14 күн бұрын
So, Forrest would represent God in this metaphor. He shows Jenny unconditional love, is always there to accept and forgive, etc. Jenny however would represent a lot religious people (here in America anyway, can’t speak to other countries). Hypocritical, selfish, close-minded and hurtful. But after Jenny has her fun, screwing and smoking her life away in debauchery and sin, she then - and only then - returns to Forrest. When she’s near death and desperate. She wants to have her cake and eat it too, like a lot of “believers”. When people reach a certain age they suddenly get “right with God” and in turn shove their beliefs down other people’s throats in some vain hope of vindication. It’s a crock of shit. Only in real life, “God” isn't mentally retarded. But people who supposedly "believe" sure do treat Him like he is
