From mid-June to mid-July, Lady Slippers come and go by the hundreds of thousands in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Not so rare in these parts. Come and experience the flowers and so much more in Atlantic Canada; and for a real treat, visit the Saint John River Valley from Saint John to Edmundston in May when the Service Berry trees are in bloom.😁

This is a good trick. You could even have something that doubles as a rain cover, perhaps a translucent umbrella (which would also be easy to set up for narrow shots). Another, unrelated tip from me: black makes the colors really pop. I often try to get a black / very dark background. Even better if there is distance to it, or a large aperture, to make the background blurry, too. This combination can often be achieved with a long focal length, you just have to get far away from the subject (it can be difficult on a windy day). Though most lenses do not produce a nice bokeh wide open, so it needs some experimentation to find the best one for a given lens (and also depends on the scene).
@thenewbrunswicklandscapeph6614

Yes I agree, an umbrella would work great! And Yes, finding a nice background is another great tip! I mention that in another one of my wildflower videos.

Hello, I reminded this video .. we were discussing the matter of the most useful focal lengths year ago .. it's sad btw that you ceased to put a content on your channel - I liked your videos despite I disagreed with your point about lenses that you only need .. I am here with little update .. I've spent last year a lot of time out there in the great outdoors (to be precise big multiday hikes were only 3: - Scotland, Norway and Austrian Alps) and totally changed my gear and setup. My photo-hikes involve just a lot of hillwalking and trekking so I've stopped using a FX camera (D810) and returned back to using my good old trusty DX camera (D7200) because of weight and the size of the gear ... with FX I've found myself that my the most used focal length is still 24-70 and full set is just too heavy and cumbersome. I am now using mostly the 18-140mm nikon kit lens (27-210 on FX after applying crop factor) ++ eventually Tokina 11-20 when I need to go ultrawide .. Image quality difference is hard to notice even with pixel-peeping and now my full set is now below 4.4lb (camera, strap, batteries, two lenses) which is awesome .. And the most important point: this year are 80% of all my class A landscape shots taken between 27-85mm .. so no, you really need 24-70 when you go out ;), if I had to choose I'd go single-lens with one 24-70 rather than with 16-35 and 70-200 .. cheers from Germany !! ~dan

Great tip. I usually carry a 300mm (12") 5-in-1 reflector, which has a diffusion portion, but it is only good for a close-up shot. Using a larger diffuser would allow for a wider shot. Thanks.

hahaha I'm a Wicker on the wet coast , Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, I'm here to tell you you missed the best landscape camera's and lenses, the Pentax cameras (K1MkII), and lenses 15-30mm also 24-70, 70-200mm) are by far the most robust and best quality gear for Landscape shoots. This is especially true if you are an all weather shooter and don't want to carry a shower cap to protect your delicate gear (read that as Nikon canon etc). Check it out man you are boxing things into the noisy buy new body and lens every 4 months slot.. BTW Born and bred and brought up in Saint John and Sussex New Brunswick, travelled the world, would not be with out my Pentax gear in any weather
