In a later video, Saito Sensei describes the difference between Ikkyo and Nikkyo. Nikkyo uses the bent wrist to complete technique. In this technique, Sensei straightens ("Flattens") the wrist to complete the movement. It's a moot point, but in the complete video, Sensei says he is demonstrating Ikkyo in this technique.

This is why most people can’t learn Aiki. They don’t understand the science. The years and years of. MOVEMENT. AND TECHNIQUE.

Lack of patiencie and trust in the process, and aikido here is hardly and exception. People expect magical pill with results: just like Neo, they want to plug in, download, get to know martial arts / get fit / know coding.....

If the majority of people aren’t able to learn a certain martial art as easily as other martial arts, then maybe it’s not very effective.

@@CDABXXX Let’s say this. All Martial Arts. Have their fulcrum point. Effective of what. A punch is still a punch. No matter the style or teaching. The body only works in its flow. When the flow is at a point. There you go. It’s all the same. One way or another. It’s everything. And nothing. That’s what you all. Forget. There is no is. Just the doing.

@@bigsidable 1 year of BJJ, boxing, kickboxing, any form of wrestling, judo, Muay Thai or ANYTHING with sparring or live resistance defeats 10 years of Aikido. I promise you. If you can link KZfaq videos showing an aikido a defeating an actually trained fighter or martial artist of the ones listed, please send.

@@CDABXXX Look I understand what your saying. But AIKIDO IS NOT A OFFENSIVE ART. IVE BEEN TRAINING MARTIAL ARTS FOR 55 YEARS. Aikido is the exact opposite to all Aggresive Offensive martial arts. Not created to be THE AGGRESSOR. THE PHILOSOPHY AND SCIENCE ARNT THE SAME. Completely DEFENSIVE. ITS GOES AGAINST EVERYTHING I LEARNED IN POEKALAN,JKD,SHOTOKAN. Not a sport or combative art. It’s a PEACEFUL FORM OF SELF DEFENSE. Even against a trained fighter. I’m so glad I started training Aikido. It calmed my EXTREMLY Aggressive Nature when it came to martial arts. And here’s the kicker. Using the aggressive concept of my other styles along with Aikido. Is a dam good combination. We as martial artist have a responsibilityto our fellow man. To do no harm, just because we can. I found myself one day chasing down this guy on the freeway, because he cut me off. Chased him to his exit. I wanted to kick his ass. Somehow I snapped out of it. And thought to myself. This is not why you study martial arts. We are to defend ourselves and to protect those who can’t. Not to be the AGGRESSOR. THATS THE DIFFERENCE. So we can have this discussion on what art works best. But still a good knife hand to the Adam’s apple. Shuts down any style.
