is it lose on the axe, then make the round hole smaller with a pliers. if it is pushed down to far it could be stuck as well.

Years ago one would pay a fortune for clocks but prices went way down. Great times if you are a collector. Wich i am not but i just inherited my dad's clock collection and i got infected i guess. I love old mechanical clocks. Researching their age and brand is a hobby in itself. :))

Nice video! What is the life expectancy for a suspension spring? (How often should they be replaced). Thanks!
@antique_dutch_clock_parts3 жыл бұрын
when the pendulum starts to wobble, it is time or when it breaks.

ANTIQUE DUTCH CLOCK PARTS Thank you ... I ordered a Zaanse Zaandam Blue Delph and it had to go through customs .. There is a chain missing and now the pendulum will not swing .. it will go to the right but stops dead middle ..
@antique_dutch_clock_parts4 жыл бұрын
@@CarverEngraver The escape is ofset, you need to set it again by moving it slightly to the rightthat it goes evenly far left or right.

Excuse me may I ask some question, what does the suspension spring do in a mechanical clock? What difference does it make? Thank you.
@antique_dutch_clock_parts5 жыл бұрын
it makes the swinging of the pendulum possible by the flexible connection between the clockwork and pendulum. If it is not there the pendulum can't swing it would be to rigid. hope this helps.

@@antique_dutch_clock_parts while I'm/we're here. I was wondering, do you sell clock parts? It's not that I'm looking for something, it's just that it's kind of a rare thing to do here in Indonesia.
thanks for posting this video. I found it very helpful. I am trying to repair my grandparents zaadam clock. it has not been working for years. I removed the clock work, and used compressed air (from the can) and oiled the axle points. after reassembling, there seems to be a problem with the escapement as it will not maintain movement. There is some jiggle with one of the axles when I pull on the movement chain. I was wondering if this could be the cause for it not having movement. I posted a video here. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oJdhgcyjpr6nqmg.html can you let me know your thoughts?
@antique_dutch_clock_parts6 жыл бұрын
the axle is indeed lose in the bearing however that is the chime side and shouldn't interfear with the time side. do you get a movement on the escape and how long?
@NYskyHI6 жыл бұрын
no movement at all from the escape after pulling on the chain.
