I discovered MdlT very recently and you and your delightful videos tonight. While Manual in videos and his book is very conceptual, I appreciate your more demonstrative approach, even though I am usually more of a verbal rather than a visual learner. But, contrary to the enthusiasm of other comments, I still don't get the idea of visualizing the club swinging to the target. As you point out, the club points at the target for only a few milliseconds as it swings on an arc. So what am I visualizing.? This tiny point in the swing? The entire arc of the swing? This senior golfer from British Columbia is still confused by this key point in MdlT's theory of the swing.

Reminds me of when I would go ice as a kid. A group of us would hold hands and rotate in a circle. The person in the center of the circle moved very little and controlled the swing. The further you were from the center the faster you would go. Then one by one the outside person would let go and be flung. Great fun! Thanks Trish

I’m definitely understanding the backswing with the hands, but the forward swing is a struggle, shouldn’t be as hard as I’m making it 😂 I understand it’s the shoulder to upper arm, but is it through rotating the shoulder open thus swinging the arm with upper body, or is it more a throw with the right arm/bicep with clubhead lagging behind? That timing would seem extremely difficult which is why I think I’m doing this incorrectly.
@815TeeTimeInc
@815TeeTimeInc 11 күн бұрын
It is definitely not with the rotating the shoulder open.… It is literally allowing the triceps and biceps of both arms to swing the club forward in the direction of the target. Sometimes I’d like to think that there’s like a hinge right at my shoulder socket.… When I get to the top of my backswing. I simply let my arms Unhinge so to speak I’ll do another video on this in the near future. Thank you so much for your question. I hope this helps.

Hi Trish, what part of the trail shoulder should we focus on when we take it back?
@815TeeTimeInc
@815TeeTimeInc 16 күн бұрын
Hello there, thank you so much for your question. I wouldn’t focus on the trail shoulder because the club is swung back over the trail shoulder with your hands. But if you are asking where over your shoulder, you swing the club back that’s a different story.… The club is swung back over the area of your shoulder between your neck and shoulder. Does that make sense?

Thanks Trish! One more question: At address, where should the hands be in relation to the ball? Should they be slightly ahead of the ball or even with it?
@815TeeTimeInc
@815TeeTimeInc 6 күн бұрын
@phillipsudds6686 hello there, thank you for your question. The hands should be hanging freely without tension in front of you which would be the center of your body. The club is also centered. The ball is in front of the club.… Forward shaft Lane or your hands in front of the club head put the entire club out of balance.

Trish would a correct feel in the downswing be throwing the right arm from shoulder to elbow down the target line? I think when I do that I might be dipping the trail shoulder causing both fat and thin shots. If you were to ask me to hit driver off my knees I’d hit far behind me and inside. Thx for the video, good stuff!
@815TeeTimeInc
@815TeeTimeInc 17 күн бұрын
Hi there… Thank you so much for your question It sounds like you are using your hands at the start of the forward swing. Think about it. If you were on your knees to swing driver.… And you hit behind it.… The only thing you could have used would be your hands. Try thinking about that.… Try picturing that.… use your arms and return the responsibility of the forward. Swing to your arms.… Forward.

The best things are always pure and simple!! But we humans do looove to complicate everything. If we can purge the complexity from our minds and study the natural simplicity of the golf swing, and let (what should be) our natural pendulum swing control our body and not the other way round, we will enhance our golfing journey - of this I am convinced. @815TeeTimeInc
@815TeeTimeInc 28 күн бұрын
Well.… If that were the case, the club would be late every single time and the ball would go sideways. For a right handed golfer it would go to the Wright for left-handed golfer. It would go to the left.… Think of it this way. The outside of a circle must go faster than the inside of the circle for them to remain constant with each other.… If the hip moves first.… The inside of the circle would be moving faster than the outside of the circle, and they would never sync with each other. It may look like they start with their lower body because that’s bigger muscles and easier to see. But the arms move first, because otherwise the club would be late

Hi Trish. I wish you best of luck. This is off topic but I watched a lengthy class given by Manuel and he talked about building strength by beating a rug hung over a clothes line, to strengthen the back muscles. And I went to the driving range and tried to engage my back muscles during the swing, and lo and behold, I starting striking the ball like a pro. The ball was going 10-15 yards further with my mid irons and much higher. Anyway, I have a hard time duplicating that, and I wondered if there is some method or trick that we can use to get our back muscles engaged so that I strike the ball like that every time Maybe you’ve covered this in another video? But Manuel didn’t really elaborate much in the video I watched, other than to say that the power comes from the muscles of our back.

Yes, as to the old school way of two wedges--that's all we had back when I learned the game-PW/SW (of the old lofts). But now I can play about any club for a chipping club. Pretty sure my retro wedges are 55 sand and around 51 PW--and I could always flatten them out as needed-but I lost directional accuracy. Favorite thing of late is using a 4-5 iron for running shots, but also to flatten that blade and use it to pop 'em up, it involves a big opening of stance, but is now in my arsenal since learning how to line up those shots accurately. Just the other day I putted from 25 yards out in the short grass, a shot I would never have tried before, and rolled it up to 8' wide of the cup. My chipping range is where I knock balls into 5-gallon buckets at 25-ish yards-most days of the week. Short game prowess is a great tool to know we can rely on. Great luck in the tournament!
