Where in Colorado is this I just got done with my 2004 honda xr400r and my dad just got done with his 2002 yamaha wr400f we're looking for trails to ride that have a beautiful view and aren't super hard because my dad's in his late 40s and has been a truck driver his whole life so his back is shot but we still like to have some nice Rev times ever now and then

I don't treat my kick-start like you do. Your bike seems in a mint condition but you weren't explaining which stroke you were on and what to feel or where exactly to kick.

Yes my bad, I just look for a high compression, meaning a greater resistance when the kick starter is at top...hope this help.

Bike looks and sounds great. Opening the throttle without the piston moving does absolutely nothing. There is no suction to pull fuel out of the bowl. You are just moving the carburetor slide.

My 2001 starts fairly easily even with stock carb. It’s mostly stock minus a fmf muffler. If I get a good kick it takes 2 kicks. On cold: Full choke, turn the idle up a tad, no throttle and find TDC and kick it hard. When hot just kick it thru with the hot pulled a few times and find TDC and give it a good kick, no choke, no throttle.

excact same as my xr400r i get mine going no problem, ive just cleaned the carb out and changed the tap filters what a bloody mess, but i took her for a road spin i got up to 135 kmh before i ran out of road and she was still pulling, about 90mph,i know she will do 120mph, awsome bikes mines on my channel running if you want to see it,all the best .

Does it really start better by opening the throttle for one second? Because unless it has an aftermarket carburetor with an acceleration pump, it shouldn't really matter if you open the throttle or not. The engine sounds really smooth though, and the bike overall looks in great condition, would love to have such a great bike.
