@@TheMidnightModder You are welcome. I knew both Marshall and WS personally. WS better than Marshall. We became so close, I called him Grandpa and he called me his grandson, even though we found out that he is my distant cousin on my maternal grandmother's side.

Love the Man In Black!! What it took for him to be able to perform in this concert is incredible! I read about it in the book by Marshall Grant. after reading that, it’s hard to believe Johnny could perform at all, let alone at such a high level.

They used to say "never let Johnny Cash cover your song. The minute you do it ceases to be yours". See examples at Trent Reznor's Hurt. I'm not saying Wyclef took Deliah from Johnny, but DAMN! chokes me up ervery time, its so good!

I agree with @tracy sackrider; when I first saw this performance (live, as I was watching the show on television) I'd barely heard of Wyclef Jean and for the first 30 seconds thought it/him/the song (which I also had not heard before either) quite "out of character" for the Country Music awards show, but Wyclef is so infectious. The whole thing was great but my favorite part is seeing how happy he is at the very end. I think he was appreciative and perhaps a bit surprised the crowd liked his performance so much, he wasn't receiving "just" polite applause! This was 10 or 15 years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday; one of the "best" performances I've seen on television - certainly one of my favorites.

I was there for that performance, kneeling on the floor, directly in front of John with my camera. I stayed overnight at The Carter Family Fold and can't put into words how nice the Carter and Cash family was to me. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. I saw Johnny perform several times before this and got to talk with him but this was different.
