You’re the only one that helped me figure out my problem. Probably because it looks like you work in California. My setup looks exactly like that.😂 thanks my man👊🏽
@jaimejane895610 күн бұрын
Do you service SW Florida, lol. Just a short drive from Cali.... Gonna try your suggestion now and will let you know if it worked for me. Update: Bit of bad luck and calling a sprinkler man. When I opened the box with the valves, it was making a lot of noise yet most of it is buried under dirt....way above my pay grade but I do enjoy making DIY repairs whenever possible. This one just isn't possible :)

So glad I came across this video - it seems to address the issue I have with my leaking valve. I think the way the instructions were put across is superb. Thank you!

It worked and was so easy to repair. It makes sense because the circuit (backyard) was fine until I made a repair to a leak in the front yard! 🙏🏻

Im getting water hammer so I put a pressure guage on the spigot and it said about 50 psi. If I reduce the shut off valve on the irrigation line from full to 45 degrees, all water hammer goes away. Do you know why this happens? I'm not even high pressure.

To much water flow demand down stream in the zone
@possession3929Ай бұрын
@@sprinklerboss Thanks for the reply. Any suggestions other than pressure reducing valve to fix this? I was thinking of reducing the flow from the valve outside.
@sprinklerbossАй бұрын
@@possession3929 try reducing the flow like you said. I’ve seen that work or reduce the flow (demand) on that high demand zone(s) by installing low flow heads, like MP rotators.

My system was installed in 1990 and no problems till this yr when 1 station wouldn't turn off. Checked multiple videos and yours had the answer. All that was wrong was the solenoid was not tight. Snugged it up and problem solved. No other video I looked at recommended checking it first like u did. Thank you so very much.

Great video - clear, to the point, easy to understand. I've got a nearly new valve that's leaking like the one in this video, and I highly suspect there's debris stuck in there because I had to modify the PVC plumbing that was leading up to it. Probably got some PVC bits in there. Never knew it was this easy to check it out. Thank you!!

I have a similar issue. The only way I can shut off the water is either shutting off the main water supply or unplugging the sprinkler controller from the wall outlet. What exactly could be my issue

Probably the valve is stuck open

Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. One question, is the pressure reducer installed before the vacuum breaker or after the vacuum breaker, thanks and regards.
@sprinklerbossАй бұрын
That’s a preference issue not a city code as far as I’m aware. I would do the pressure regulator before the backflow.

Have you adjusted your prices since this video came out? I'm looking to get into this business and got a vendor to price all material needed to install 5 4.5w Vista bullet fixtures for trees came out to $560. Leaving 440 for profit seems a bit low on profit
@sprinklerboss2 ай бұрын
We do charge more now, however we don’t buy vista lights. So we do have more room for profit.

I had this condition and after opening the valve noticed the diaphragm was kind of brittle, so I got a kit and replaced it. How old would you say a diaphragm would be before it needs replacing? Mine was almost 20 years.

Okay but how do you install the valve with the regulator… every thread turns the same way and when I tighten my fitting into the outlet pipe going into the ground I then have to loosen it to screen into the rain it’s flow valve and it keeps leaking. I did install Teflon but that doesn’t seem to help either.

Just a sidenote - you don't actually need the orange key. The screw adjusting the radius can be rotated using a small screwdriver (flathead, very thin); the angle can be adjusted using your fingers. But the key makes it much simpler, and you'll get less water onto yourself. Finally, what was not mentioned at all - the angle is adjusted to the right side. That is, there's a point on the sprinkler where spraying "starts", and by rotating the metal part you set how "wide" the spraying happens along the circumference of the head from that point to the right side. This starting point used to be marked by a white stripe on the side of older heads, now there's just a flat section there, and the stripe can be very faintly seen on it as a different shade of black if you stare hard enough. So to set the leftmost position if you ever need it, you have to pull out the riser, hold it firmly with your hand, and steadily rotate it where you need it. It clicks in the process, that is totally normal according to Hunter, so don't worry about that.
