Once the location, for the new Gordie Howe bridge was announced, I knew that the blast furnaces there would never fire again. The reason is there is so much carbon Monoxide generated, during the iron production that it could be a hazard to workers, both during construction and afterwards, and to drivers who may be sitting on the bridge.

Great view of the cancer clouds hanging over the property. In the 1970's, the Guinness World Book of Records recognized Zug Island as the most polluted area of land in the U.S.A..

Great drone work! The night shots are rare, but the place lights itself up nicely. (Good job electrical dept.) No.2 coke plant, the sinter plant and the big gas holder all gone. Never seen the place so clean.

Is the Coke Battery a good place to work?
@MsLaurN4 жыл бұрын
@@richdebene It's a place where you have to watch out for your health and safety. Lots of better places to work for sure.

I am not so much worried about that. I was on the island a few years, then the 80” for like 6 years. I am just asking do you run balls to the walls, or is it a chill place to work?
@MsLaurN4 жыл бұрын
@@richdebene Do you know the blast furnaces are shutting down in a few months? US Steel operations on the island will stop. DTE operates the coke battery, so they'll make the decision there. I haven't been in the coke plant for ages, so I couldn't say, but DTE is normally pretty reasonable.
@richdebene4 жыл бұрын
MsLaurN. Yes, I am aware of the situation with the blast furnace is as I work at United States Steel at this time. But I know they are hiring at the Coke battery that’s why I was inquiring. Thank you.

Who said they have anything to hide? It's private property and a rather dangerous industrial site. Dropping grenades from drones is a rather easy thing to do (in fact it's become a common form of terrorism in some parts of the world).
