The left/right speakers during surround sound content are really only playing music and effects, as such they don’t really play a lot of content in-common with the center, and since the center is the main crucial focal point (voices) I usually suggest to forget about matching and instead get the biggest, baddest center channel you can (and if you have multiple listeners, that means either 3-way or coaxial).

I find it funny how negative some people are in regards to the wiim amp, not so far in the past the dac chip used was in flagship devices. Streaming hasn't come that far and the wiim is capable of actually sounding great.

I didn't enjoy my 4 svs elevations mounted high on the wall, until I turned them up about 5 db, higher than the surrounds and fronts.

I was at the Toronto Audiofest last year ..where they premiered..and it was ok…but not $150kUS ..and a bunch of MICHI source chain …entirely MEH 😑

So funny. I also heard the hyphen at audio advice live and thought it was the best speaker I ever heard and the only super expensive speaker I could justify the money. What I wasn't impressed by was the focal utopia but it was in a horrible location.

Are you beta testing ART with your HTP-1? Or what processor are you using to beta test ART? Thanks... I do have the HTP with DLBC and 4 subs. It sounds great to me, and just added the NAD curve which slightly reduces the HF compared to Harman and Dirac curves. I like the NAD curve better for some (bad) recordings.

I'd somewhat disagree with Chana here. Yes - he's right that nobody needs Dirac ART - but that's true for the AV-area as a hole. 😅 I've also got the feeling, that the particular system, which Chana was able to listen to with ART engaged, wasn't properly set up. Or let me rephrase it: With DL-ART it is now perfectly possible to screw up the imaging, if done wrong (and you can even overload and therefore damage your speakers). But if done right, it is a real game changer.

Mathew Poe would disagree Chana. Isn't this all about front to back room subwoofer bass as a feature, function entertainment like venue thing. I actually think people who live in shared party wall dwellings like townhouses would benefit in that they can enjoy the bass in a more sonic controlled way without over powering wall shaking reflective dangers with neighbors. Mr. Poe is all in on Waveforming.

Obviously, use magic beans with Dirac Live if you think about it. The MiniDSP price, plus $200 for Audyssey, I would rather buy Dirac Live with bass control.

Joe, FYI, the Denon x3800h he mentioned has four subwoofer outputs, so he doesn't need a miniDSP. Also, he would be able to purchase Dirac Live bass control.

The marantz sr6015 do have 9 channels with 11 channels of processing. I have a basX3 for the LCR and also use the ac infinity fan for cooling.

I purchased a pair of OG Prime Pinnacles since they are on clearance, and have been impressed by their honest low bass capabilities and smooth top end. They also project a decent size soundstage with depth to boot. Way to go SVS! You should take the OG Prime Pinnacle towers for a spin Erin. They just might be better than their latest series.

Class D amps came about in the early 1960's - so why haven't they caught on in AVR's? They have always traditionally put out higher harmonic distortion, so that's one reason. High sensitivity speakers do not work well with Class D amps. Get a cooling fan and don't box your receiver in / and remember, there's a reason almost all subs have Class D amps / under 400 hz, distortion is not detectable, and it's cheaper - way cheaper than the few that have Class A/B amps.

I have a new pair of Arendal 1723 Towers and despite my room being less than ideal, I am getting bass down to 30hz before it starts dropping off although it is still audible at 20hz. Note, I have one port plugged.

I agree with Channa in terms of his point about 12 bit and companies slowing down progress, they only innovate enough to beat the competition for the next product cycle. I’m hoping TCL and Hisense break this chain. TCL currently has a 163” microled display for $100k in china, and news sources are saying companies (not sure which) have found a way to reduce microled panel prices to around 1/4th the price. Please make a video on what people should do when they have a massive open floor plan living room. I've got only LCR right now. I've toyed with upfiring atmos and took them back (waste of $). It is not possible for me to have any other floor/bookshelf speakers, so my only upgrade path is the ceiling. I've seen in several forum posts that many folks have my same issue, but I've yet to see any compelling video discussion on how best to optimize this space. One option is to simply to a 5.2.0 system where I place two in-ceiling surrounds. Not sure pursuing anything more than that would be worth it (e.g., 7.2.0 with four in-ceiling for SLR & SB or a 3.2.4 with four atmos channels).

8k resolution needs to take a backseat, we are lagging behind in temporal resolution(fps), you can double the fps and you double the storage space, but if you double the resolution width from 4k to 8k, you ned four times the storage space. and something with the compression or bit depth, we still have color banding in movies that needs to be fixed. and sometimes i am sure the movies are shot wit the worst cameras, and do not get me started on cgi resolution, that is still way back at 1080p in "4k" movies.

@Joe warm up limetorrents 60 gig mkv downloads to test the new Zidoo. Test the dual hdmi outputs for video and audio. This is the best feature of these streamers channeling dedicated audio to your processor so we dont have to use eARC.
