Can't statcast project the distance not where it hits but where it's going to land.I know that the ball of tiny hit to left field at 1 1 8. 8 miles per hour hit right below the Tony gwynn sign then drop 3 to 4 storys down just above the second deck is that why it only measured 443. Surely if there were no decks there or part of the park play Bollywood landed elsewhere at 118 mph it seems it would have traveled at least another 60 ft at least.. so what was the projected path of the ball at 118 mph

I am always confused with something for the weight prefix and you mentioned it here. “This season runs score environment”. Does it take in consideration the numbers of the current season or numbers of the previous season, and use them as expected numbers? Thank you!

The problem with the simple forms of FIP is that it assumes the pitcher has no influence on what happens to the ball once it is in play (excluding home runs). The corollary to this is that BAbip should be around .290 or .300 for all batters, and it isn’t.

Is Siera the best stat to evaluate relievers also?
@davidmacgown321
@davidmacgown321 2 ай бұрын
Does the defense shift only when bases are empty? Because if there's a runner on second and the 3rd baseman is behind 2nd base all the hitter needs to do is hit a ball to the left side of the infield for the runner to score.

I love FIP....great stat. The problem is some pitchers just consistently outperform their FIP. Mariano, Glavine, Jim Palmer, Jimmy Key, the Neikro brothers to name a few. Verlander in recent years.

How can we use FIP to figure out if a pitcher is unlucky/lucky? If a guys FIP is lower than his ERA would you conclude he's been unlucky? and vice versa? Like, if a pitcher induces a groundball and the infield gets it, throws it but the 1b makes an error, how would this be represented in FIP?

This is very good, but right at 3:00, instead of keeping the same arrow direction, indicating the direction the ball is spinning when the pitcher is looking at it, you flip all those arrows around to point at the numbers of the clock instead of point from the number. This is confusing to younger players who just got the idea that the arrow indicates the direction the seams are moving from their perspective.

Yea no. You need to make the box adjusted to the player. Otherwise smaller players have a strike zone of their chest down and tall players from their ankles down

How is a HBP more than a walk. And everyone trashes BA, yet this stat puts more weight on a single than a walk, even though each is 1b
@hkgcgsdhjgd
@hkgcgsdhjgd 7 ай бұрын
I’m with you on the first point- a hit-by-pitch and a walk are the same thing. But a single is identical to a walk only if the bases are empty. If there are baserunners present, a single is better than a walk. If first base is open and you have runner(s) on second and/or third, a walk will not advance those runners but a single will. Sometimes a runner is able to advance two bases on a single (i.e. going from first to third, or from second to home), unlike walks which can never advance a runner more than one base.
