Fabulous collection and great finds. Being from Australia we don't have squirrels for one so was interested and amazed to see how many different types there are. Thanks for a great insight from your outings! Cheers, Richard

Thanks. The Western U.S. has over 20 species of chipmunks, many more ground squirrels and other diurnal rodents. Lots of subtle diversity most people overlook.

Great finds. Love Fossas, fascinating beast. Give them 1000 more years and they'll turn into actual cats. They're close enough as is lol. Also what happened at 2:10? Scary sounds

While I did come upon this video from zefrank (thank you kindly for providing a link in the description to bluejay butterfly barf!) this is an absolutely fascinating little behaviour. I'd also never seen quite how many monarch butterflies there can be at once, the branches are practically bending underneath them!

Between Deramakot and Danum Valley, Which one would you recommend more? We are already doing the K River.
@BrettHartl
@BrettHartl 6 ай бұрын
For nocturnal mammals, Deramakot is far superior than Danum. Do not stay at expensive lodge because night drives severely limited. Danum research station is ok, but has no real advantages.

One cannot appreciate the sound this many birds makes when they are landing and taking off from the river….it is as loud and all encompassing as a jet engine, it is unreal to experience first hand.

15 years back .we went to Arunachal Pradesh for a tour. We were surprised to see that in some places there is a notification that the bird hunters will be prosecuted under the law. We enquired the driver of the matter. He told us that several species of birds have been liquidated owing to the irresponsible and wanton hunting of those bird groups. We asked about crow and some other birds since we failed to see them anywhere around.He confirmed that these are among those birds hunted. While passing through a forest we also saw that two three people are coming out of the dense forest with a gun in their hand. The driver told that these are the people who are the hunters. Despite govt notification ,they are doing opposite all the time. This is the main reason for the disappearance of the specific group of birds. We don't know what is the present position. Whether the crows and other species have come back to the natural environment?

There isn’t a clouded leopard in this video (though they do live in this exact preserve and are seen there more often than basically anywhere else); the cat at the start of the video is a marbled cat, which looks a lot like a miniature clouded leopard.
