Ha Ha! I know I am slow! The purpose of this video was to show how the 2025 KTM 350XCF runs at slow speeds on tight trails. The previous generation 350XCF was easy to stall at low RPM's. I really like 350's! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h7d_Zs90qtu0YWw.html

The Kaplan Family and Kaplan Cycles are #1. The Kaplans are some of my very favorite people. I love their honesty, old school values, and the pride they take in every single job they do. I bought a 1985 Yamaha 2 stroke RZ 350 Kenny Robert's Streetbike from them, as well as a GasGas 2 stroke MC 250 dirtbike from them. I've always been a 2 stroke mx dirtbike rider, that thinks their alot more fun to ride, compared to 4 stroke mx dirtbikes. For a year, I bought custom parts for my GasGas MC 250, as I could afford to do so. I'm about to have all the custom parts installed on it soon. JR. helped me pick out some beautiful gold rims, with red spokes and red spoke ripples..Much love and respect from Sonny in New Orleans, La. Just subscribed to your channel. Take Care, Brother!

just worked on my xr200.......putting back the 1987 xr200 rear shock with compression and rebound......i had a Hagon shock which worked ok but it was setup for motocross not woods riding so it was kind of harsh in the woods and nobody in the USA works on them...ill be selling it on ebay soon...then my kill switch broke so i rewired a new one on......then i bought a new throttle cable, what a difference that thing is compared to what i had on there, all the quirkiness went away and it works like a brand new bike throttle.....funny how i lived with that throttle for so long.....then my clutch lever was rattling so i made a plastic shim and tightened that up......have a lot more to do but that story is for another time.....

MX Engineer 1: Does the 2025 350 XCF transmission feel at all gappy (vs 350 SXF) ? Hard to tell from video as you never leave 3rd gear. Thank you.
@mxengineer1
@mxengineer1 21 сағат бұрын
I've ridden the KTM/Husky 350 5-speed transmission and my 6-speed 25 350XCF. I find the 5-speed feels a tick more "gappy" between 2nd/3rd/4th gears and I notice KTM/Husky/Gas Gas moto 350's have either 51 or 52T rear sprockets from the factory. I feel the latest 350XCF 6-speed transmission ratios are very close 1st~5th and work great on the MX track with the stock 14/50 sprockets for a slow Vet rider like me

Congratulations on your new 25 350XCF! Fun bike! The full Akrapovic exhaust system is quieter and has a spark arrester and power is very good with maybe a tick more mid to top end power. The slip on Akrapovic silencer is more cost effective and similar to FMF/Yoshimura slip on mufflers but much quieter. I believe 24 model year is same (the one I have on my '25 350XCF was used for a short time on a 23 KTM 350SXF).

Looks like a nice bike! When you say just a little clutch slip and rolls in nice, do you mean that you pull the clutch in a little bit to reduce the engine braking so you get a little more roll speed to the apex of the corner? I was thinking of trying this with my yamaha but have never heard anyone talk about doing that. Your riding has really improved from the early videos! More aggressive now.
@mxengineer1
@mxengineer1 2 күн бұрын
I meant to say a quick slip of the clutch while riding a corner in a higher gear lets the engine build RPM's more quickly for a better corner exit. I like to ride a higher gear in corners to improve roll speed. If the bike has the tuning option I reduce engine braking to minimum level on 4-strokes to help free up the chassis off throttle and under braking and into corners.

I always have a 300 smoker and 350 thumper in the garage. If my riding was moto/woods with more flowing trails I give a slight edge (60/40) to the 350XCF. If my riding was more technical trails with a little easy moto then hard to beat a 300 smoker.

Those Kaplan boys have about a warehouse full of those bikes. I have a feeling it’s gonna be discount city for all shops this fall.. the consumer is a bit tapped right now. The Kaplans give great deals on vintage motorcycles. What they say and describe, is exactly what and how the motorcycle is. Both of my motorcycles were Used, like new, very low mileage on both bikes, but the GasGas Dirtbike was barely broken in, and only ridden on the grass. . They're the people I would trust in a heartbeat, before buying from somebody off of Facebook Market Place, Craigslist, Ebay, etc.

so quick shift is keeping on the gas and using a button to shift? can you shift up or down with the quick shift?
@mxengineer1
@mxengineer1 2 күн бұрын
Quick shift simply senses when the shifter is moving and the ECU then makes a few small changes to fueling and ignition timing to make shifting under power easier.

How do you compare this to a yz250f ? And also how does it compare to your 350 xcf on the track I’m ties between these 3 bikes
@mxengineer1
@mxengineer1 2 күн бұрын
That is a great question and hopefully I can do some back to back comparison rides with a 24 YZ250F, 25 CRF250R, and my 25 350XCF soon. Based on my rides on these bikes to date: Downdraft/reverse head intake on the YZ250F is a fundamental design advantage for getting fresh cool air into an engine and makes for a quick revving responsive (especially low to mid) 250F engine. Yamaha has run KYB suspension for years and typically sets the bar for off the showroom floor suspension performance that works for a wide range of riders and skill levels. Honda CRF250R is a very responsive handling bike with almost 2-stroke like lightweight feel. The 25 model chassis updates are significant and noticeable - more planted and calm front end with plush(!!) feeling forks. The revised 25 CRF250R air box provides a more direct intake path so while the engine may not make more power it does have quick RPM build and "feels" a little stronger low to mid. Austrian 350's have long been my favorite combination of Power/Weight/Handling in a 4-stroke dirt bike. The updates to the 25 KTM 350XCF chassis and suspension (spring forks) make for a great combination of stability and cornering and plush/compliant suspension. The combination of 6-speed gearbox, extra fuel that is held low on the chassis, o-ring chain, and one of the most fun 4-strokes engines Ive ridden to date gives the overall edge for a 1-bike-does it all to the 25 350XCF for me. Having said that I look forward to doing some back to back rides with the 24 YZ250F and 25 CRF250R and my 25 350XCF!

Great video - I have ridden the RX450 and really like it , the power is not on par with my 21 Factory edition 450 ( which I understand 1st year model ) the tank is wide and it is the biggest complaint on my 24 RX 300 , it's wide lol my 23 KTM SX 250 smoker is so slim and narrow compared to the RX450 - imo my 300 feels more powerful than that 450 maybe its just me lol othewise the bike fits me well as I am 6'4 and 195 lbs - I am way jealous of the great riding areas you bring us too - one day I may have to make an ohio run 😁I am still stuck on if I should get a 350 or a ne 450 for 25 - in minneapolis I can get a 2 stroke screaming deal on a 25 KX450 - all I can say is it is under 7k out the door ( but not much ) but it has been years since I owned a Jap bike lol and I have not riden kawasaki since 2000 as in 2000 my new KX250 put me in the hospital for 3 months - ok not bikes fault - it was mine uggggg p.s. @mxengineer1

Yes. It is a unique feeling engine. It has a quick response to the initial turn of the throttle with good low to mid power then does tend to flatten out at higher RPM's and the vibration level is similar to a KTM 450SXF.
