Thanks for the excellent review, Ryan! This may be my first Benchmade EDC, after a bit more research into the Omega springs.

Just got mine today. My 1st "more expensive" name brand knife. The lightweight version. I'm a new knife collector, love the hobby. Question, did your Spyderco Tenacious come with pretty much no lubricant? Like, I can't get the action to "drop" properly lubing her now. Just seems like it'd be fully gliding thru the blades movement, opening is fine, closing is where it's not, it does shut, but not auto with gravity like all the others. Maybe because it's new?

IMHO this P3 LW is one of the most "handsome" knives around. It is my all time favorite EDC.

I had the para3 but ended up returning it for the bugout. The lifetime warranty and blade replacement for the bugout gives me the set it n forget it mentality

I’m with you 100%. I’d rather get more bang for my buck. No way would I pay more for the Rat2. I’ve bought many huge blades because they’re a lot of knife for the money. Not overly practical but they’re fun.

Banter is STILL 108.00 Spydie is UP to 128.00 Very simple to bend clip open a bit.

Para 3 is better and not even close.

I have both. I pretty much exclusively carry the para 3 LW. I prefer the spydie hole, reverse liner lock and the wire clip is the best!

No more Spyderco. I’m over the hump on all their main models. It really just gets in the way and limits how you use it.

Only people I’ve ever seen choose a sypderco over benchmade have never owned both or they’re sellouts on KZfaq.

Frame locks aren't ambidextrous...

The Ganzo clone has 440C and an Axis lock for 24 bucks and honestly blows the original RAT 1 away in fit and finish. Plus it's got real G10 scales and a bearing pivot.

I just got delivery of a 940-2 last Saturday (08/19/2023) and it came exactly the same as my Mini Grip. Perfectly centered with no play or rock and it didn't want to drop shut and it had axis lock bind. I just kept playing with it and I tried cutting some cardboard. I got stain on the blade from the cardboard so I used Frog Lube to clean it off and just let the excess oil go down to the pivot. Now there are times when it falls shut. There are still times when it doesn't but I'm not touching the pivot screw just like I did with my Mini Grip. It'll get there. By the way, great review.

I've had a couple of G10 Para 3s (S30V and S110V) and a Para 3 LW in CPM-SPY27. Also have three Native 5s. Then I decided to try a Mini Grip. This is my favorite small knife ever. I carry it often and I don't even think about it. If I want to carry a small knife, I grab my Mini Grip.

there is another aspect, warranty support, try to convince SpyderCo to replace or repair, forget it, the SpyderCos basically have no warranty, this company sucks for support vs BenchMade they will help and support quickly

Just ordered the LW Para 3 as my first edc knife

The Para 3 is 2.4 oz where as the Benchmade is 1.8 oz. Benchmade for sure; but you really can't go wrong with either. What's a half an ounce between friends.

Get a Ganzo for 20 bucks and never consider this again!

Awesome review, very well done!!! So after intense scrutiny I purchased the para 3 FRN. in dark blue. I already owned the Dragonfly wave blade and the Manix 2XL and since I love all my Spiderco knives it wasn't a too hard a decision. And as always the I'm REALLY happy I chose Spiderco because the Para 3 is simply amazing and I've ZERO remorse for choosing it!! Again GREAT informative video, It reinforces my choice!!

I'd pick the Para 3. The reason is that I've had omega springs break on my bugouts, but I've never had an issue with my Para 3.

I'd choose Sage 5 Lightweight. Fairly light and sturdy with great action and the blade is without that ugly and non-ergonomic hump.

Just lost my Para 3 Maxamet Grey G10! It's like loss of a loved one :) might pickup a lightweight Para 3 now, great review, detailed and concise.

The OKC RAT1 & RAT2 are two of my all time favorite folding knives.
