Hi Eli! I have!!! After two failed prologues and a failed campaign ending at LY3, I'm now merrily chugging along on LY 6 in the People of the Dreamkeeper. I've only been playing it for a week or so, but it has been amazing. Too early to give you any unbiased opinions but I hope to do so one of these days. Thank you for the thoughts and well wishes. I am healthy, happy, and doing well.

I hard paused after my first encounter with The Burden. I was hoping to get everything painted before I resumed but I've only gotten the minis primed at this point. Currently I'm ankle-deep in KDM's Gambler's Chest, so it may be awhile before I'm back in Sparta... Some small thoughts though, the modularity and replayability in KDM cannot be beat by ATO. I do want to replay Cycle 1 at least once though to see if the branching narrative and diplomacy system can create a memorably different experience. Crafting system and innovation system is also unfortunately inferior to KDM's, I don't enjoy how resources and technology are "dispensed" whereas in KDM, you can either fall behind or get ahead of the curve based on how you play and plan.

@@WaitYourTurn thank God I do not have KDM 😀! I don't know if modularity in games is my thing (however I do love roguelikes), however after C1 of ATO I'm impressed as heck how all the mechanism works how well and deep the story is. Even "mortal resources dispensing" mechanism is not that bad to me as I rather focus on fighting specific primordial to get what I want. Very hard to me to make any comparisons to KDM as I have not played it at all. Probably the preference here is like a difference in taste - absolutely subjective and yet having solid reasoning for each pros and cons we feel. We not only are creatures of habits but also creatures of tastes which makes a lot of comparisons so difficult and so hard to be intersubjective 😅 however it makes so interesting all the discussions when we criticise something loved by others. But to understand this validity of multimodality of different viewpoints and to have strong opinion while not being a partisan in any "war" against each other - that's another story, another level to achieve :D. Please keep coming back to us with your opinions! Even critical ones :D

You only need the Summer core box to play Sins, Autumn, Spring, and Winter are expansions to the Summer box. So yes, the Summer one is truly standalone.

Depends on what you're used to. I mostly play solo so playing "four-handed" is my normal. I believe KF does feature a true solo mode (using three simplified squires and one main hero) however, but it's been awhile so I'm not sure what may have changed or evolved since this original update of it: www.kickstarter.com/projects/kingdomsforlorn/kingdoms-forlorn-dragons-devils-and-kings/posts/3434337

@@kosterix123 it is indeed a behemoth of a game. Solo play is a high mental load. Totally understandable, but it's a monstrously good game. My fav of all time for the record.

Hmm, it's been a minute since I've reviewed KF, but both games are designed to reward completionism (as most Kickstarters are). With KF, I believe that their wandering monsters can bleed over into other kingdoms and create unique variants based on which kingdoms you own. Therefore, the more you have, the more replayability I imagine KF should have. As for Sins, we'll have to wait and see how much content is in the core to make a good judgment. The main idea there is the more seasons you have the more regions you have to explore via their open world system. At this point, with the bare minimum we know about Sins, I'd recommend going all-in on KF over Sins. Mainly because I enjoyed the combat system (passion, fury, spirit?) slightly over ATO's. Also, because it's coming a lot sooner and further along in development.

Hi Adam! Lots of questions, I’ll try my best to answer them! Being a solo player myself and a classic introvert it’s significantly easier to squeeze in game time when I don’t have to coordinate schedules with others. Life only gets busier after all. In reality, I probably only play 1-3 hours a week, every week would be a stretch though. In fact, this was the main motivation for me to get into boardgaming from D&D. Oftentimes, campaigns would fizzle out due to player unavailability - it was difficult to get too invested (not to mention all of the wasted preparation/anticipation). Not to say I wouldn’t enjoy a good player two and at times I have had the rare joy of sharing some of these games with family and friends. However, for me I’m fine liking what I like. I like that boardgaming can be a quiet, relaxing mental hobby or a loud, hilarious social one as well. The board game community and especially the KZfaq boardgaming community is very motivating and kind. I’d highly recommend giving it a shot if you feel like you want to. It is, after all, how I make my personal gaming a social and shared experience. I’ve always loved doing my live plays - it’s always surprising who joins you on your next adventure. Lastly, regarding how I view this channel. I wish it were my job! For now, it happily sustains my hobby funds and allows me to vent to people who graciously care about my opinions. It feels good to create and to support others who dare to dream. Keep me posted!

First off, thank you for the compliment! When it comes to Kickstarter, beggars can indeed be choosers! Secondly, my internal list of anticipated games hasn’t changed much - though the companies I’ve been watching have all been going through a wide range of challenges. 1. Sins of Herakles, has recently jumped to the forefront of my attention with their recent updates and their ongoing communication. Into the Unknown is happily the most “alive” company I follow. 2. Kingdom Death: Monster’s Gambler’s Chest is the next largest arrival that I jumped on in 2020. This is a big question mark which will probably arrive 2024. Hard to get too excited for this right now when the creator has had a lot of personal issues combined with opaque vagaries regarding the creative process. Nevertheless, exciting. 3. Sankokushin: Five Sacrifices, postponed indefinitely. One of the bigger disappointments this year, but I’m trying not to think about it. I’m glad they’re making the difficult but right decisions for themselves. Hmm, looks like I really could’ve made a video about all this! I haven’t been searching for new games, looks like I’ve settled into a genre I like at this point.

I’ve seen those! At this point, I’ve gotten most of it memorized but I wish I had those at the beginning!
