Taking part in two extremely small tournaments just to gain a few points and outrageously steal Wesley So's spot at the Candidates is actually WILD... And I LOVE IT!

The funniest part of the video was Magnus declining to play in candidates 2010 which proves that even though he hated the format since that time, he still pushed on and won it 5 total times.

Even if Magnus didn’t win this one, he would have won the next Candidates. He easily qualifies through at least one route (rating) every year.

I was thinking about this during the Candidates. He was better three years ago. His play was so exciting that Magnus would have defended his world championship had Alireza won the candidates. But this past candidates, he was a total afterthought.

@@ChessNuke Yeah i get it, but a lot of the people just wont come back in the long term just because you clickbaited. You could do titles that are not misleading but in the same time still encouraging.

Alireza went through a historical rise for sure. Currently, he is in a slump and is definitely not in form. However, I wouldn't necessarily call it the "fall" of him. He is only 21 (this year) and has his entire career ahead of him. Like many young adults, he is still figuring out what he wants to do in life and it's obvious that his sole focus isn't on chess at the moment. There was insurmountable pressure placed on him from a young age and it was unrealistic for us to believe he would carry on steadily. Ups and downs are bound to appear and that is completely reasonable. If he chooses to focus on chess again, I believe he will rise back to the top 8 in no time. But at the moment, I think we should let the young man breathe.

What a clickbait clown title, Firouzja was never "dominant" in chess, and he is at the same place now that he was 2 years ago. Him fluking a win over Caruana to win a tournament and gain over 2800 for a few days made him no more dominant back then than now. Also him being controversial is old news too. Plainly wrong premise for a video.

Great video, I am really in love with the London 2013 tournament. A shame that there aren't really that many videos about it. But I think that in the end, even if Magnus had not won the Candidates in 2013, he would still eventually have become world champion.

Lesson learned kid, Inflating Elo isn't good once at the top Wesley So should been the one playing at the Candidate spot, it could have been WAAAYYY more entertaining and competitive.
