JD1000.1 pushing 15" Kicker CVX, with LC2i 1000 x 2 = 2000. sqrt2000 = ~44.7 = target voltage So I: -75% volume 50hz test tone -Set LC2i just a hair before 'maximized' light turns on. -Amp gain all the way down still reads about 56, higher than voltage. (ALSO - do I set inputs to low level when running from LC2i? - is this where my issue lies?) BUT, if I set gain to hit the clipping indicator light on the amp itself, the voltage reaches like 75. As of now, it sounds way underpowered. I had a 12" with 400 watts and that was louder. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and what I'm missing. A little confused why these two numbers would be vastly different - target voltage v. clipping light voltage.

At around 30:00, Steve changed the crossover slopes on the acoustic side, would that mess with the phasing at the crossover points to where we’d need to go back and look at the phase traces to make sure they line up?

I have to vouch to the quality of JLAudio, I purchased a HD 900/5 amp and 10w6 sub back in 2007-8, they have seen three car installs along the way, the amp is still running strong and being used in my current system, the sub has finally gave out last month, the cone separated from the foam baffle on the outside, I know I could probably send it back and get it fixed (16+ years of jamming, cant complain!), but I decided to get a new one in your pre-made ported box, may still send back to see if the old one can be fixed. So I have a question about setting gains, I'm currently running Focal elite 165k2 two ways, the crossovers have sperate outputs for both the tweeter and mids, so, I have the tweeters running off the front channel and the mids running off the rear channels, should I use different test tones for each channel now that the mid and tweeter are running off separate channels? and if so, what test tones should I use for them? Also does this make any sense running them like this, is there any sound quality gain having the mid and tweeters getting more "power" or should I just run them off the front channel? thanks

I just went from a Tahoe to a Tacoma. My 10w3 subs won't fit so I am looking to go with thin subs. I have my old reliable JL 500/1 amplifier and am wondering if a single 12tw3 or 2 10tw1 subs would provide the most output? Thanks

I bought a JL MVi1000/1 to power my JL M7 Subwoofer. The head unit has a sub out but I can't see how to set things up and get it working. I've set the front speakers to 80hz and above (JL M8.8) but there's no simple 20-120hz crossover on the MVi 1000/1 amp. Am I missing something. The dealer never said I would need a MVi master amp or microphone. The fronts are still running on a bridged Pioneer which I love. How can I setup the MVi1000/1 with a standard LPF? Or should I sell this and buy a user friendly M1000/1v2?

Ok so today I learned that studs are the wood running vertically.

My first 12” was a single 12W0. No version just THE original. My friends chuckled when they heard it was 125W RMS. They stopped laughing when I hit 127.9 dB on a single 12 and won my division in my first and only sound-off. Won a dinky IASCA trophy and a 3 channel crossover. That thing was clean when it needed to be and slammed when was made to. You can buy entry level subs from any brand but when you buy entry level JL you are upper mid on everyone else. Save your money for something better like a W0 or W1, you will not be sorry.

You need to bring back the 100 watt rms subs ,, i still have my W0 10"" and just redid the rubber foam because it dried out and cracked.. some of the best slam your chest in bass

My absolute favorite subs. I’ve ran JL Audio for years. I started running them in the 90’s as a teenager. Worked my but off part time when I was 15 and saved all that money so I’d have it to purchase my JL Audio Subs. They didn’t have amps at that time or they weren’t sold in my area. I ran them on Fosgate Amps and they would absolutely slam. My last two systems were built using all JL Amps, Subs (W6 and W7), Mids and Highs combined with Audio Control Crossovers. Unfortunately due to my health now I haven’t been able to purchase a new system for my truck and I really miss the amazing build and sound quality. I’ve also really wanted a couple of their in home Subwoofers for my Klipsch surround sound system which is currently running 2 Velodyne subs. Keep up the great work and I’ll continue to support you and refer your products to everyone I talk to.

This is why I watch you - because you are an expert and I expect you to go into details with proper vocab. In Europe we appreciate expertise and we do not believe in oversimplified theories. You need technical vocab to explain technical issues. It means you know what you are saying. You should not deprive the educated ones of the joy of a proper explanation just because there are other people who never had ambition to learn. Let them learn some nice tech notions now.
