Eva Peron was a lot like Meghan Markle. Both used men to climb the social ladder, started out using men paying them for sex and married weak but much loved men. Eva started out as prostitute turned actress. Meghan started out as a yacht girl turned actress. They married into a higher social class and their goal was for money and power. Eva was drugged or manipulated so she lost power. Meghan drugged and manipulated Harry so she could take power using his star dust. Eva worked with Peron to harm those they perceived as enemies and Meghan worked with Harry to harm their perceived enemies. They their families behind when they were no longer useful and to silence them because free press and social media would expose them. Both women has narcissistic traits and used them mercilessly for their goals. We know how it ended for Eva and Peron who was her useful idiot. Maybe there will be a musical about Meghan Markle one day.

12:51 Well, I think Playing with the Big Boys holds up much better if you consider the fact it's the comic relief song of the movie. It's certainly a lot more badass than the comic relief songs in other animated movies.

I have read Mein Kampf and the Antifa Handbook. To a large part the Antifa Handbook is very much like Mein Kampf in its content.

I am shocked. And what shocks me is that so many people identify with Elle from the movie. Now I know where all the idiot female protagonists come from and why they are so popular.

I’ve been thinking about these two musicals as of current USA & European politics. Primarily with the genocide in Gaza and Donald Trump demanding to be king. Even with all the damning evidence in front of our faces, so many people are still denying the real threats that are on our doorstep. Many people think that they won’t be affected by these politics that are simply a choice of the lesser evil and that “politics don’t affect me anyways.” Unfortunately history does in fact repeat itself. You’d think it wouldn’t based on all the knowledge we have, but unfortunately people on power just want to keep gaining power and using it to oppress others.

This musical holds a special place in my heart as my favorite. After the COVID restrictions were lifted, I had the pleasure of seeing it live in London. It brought me immense joy to be there, and it saddens me deeply that they have decided to close it. The music is fenomenal.

16:05, I believe this was an attempt to callback to the original source material (ie the old testament). In the bible, Moses gets his name from Pharaoh's daughter but Miriam is there the entire time to help care for him as a baby. With that being said, as a diehard fan of the movie, i listened to the soundtrack of the stage show and immediately turned it back off. It sucks. I mean it really sucks.

I thought the boutique scene showed a real passive aggressive side of Elle. Sure , the girl is sneaky, but she's just doing what stores do. Buyer beware and all. But for Elle to trick her with a leading question, to expose her lack of expertise, instead of just saying no. To show off to her fiends Is kinda mean girl. I worked in suits in Nordstrom SF and I heard many tales of women abusing shopgirls to impress their friends.

Considering Anne of Cleves says “you say that I tricked ya because I didn’t look like my profile picture. Too bad I don’t agree” I think that’s them directly saying she probably wasn’t ugly and Henry was just being the single biggest unreliable narrator ever.

The reminds me of the difference between the book and film versions of “The Devil Wears Prada.” I saw the movie version first, and decided to read the book afterwards. The book version of Andrea is thoroughly unlikeable, and almost nothing like the character in the movie.

This is one of those instances where the movie is better than the book. If this had been the movie, it would have failed, in the same era as Mean Girls where we see how damaging this type of behavior is and the importance of overcoming it. I’m curious if the author ever watching the movie or musical and sees how she wrote the worst character, and why people would prejudge someone on those types of behaviors, vs Elle from the film and musical. But, I doubt it. She probably had one of her friends watch it for her and give her a summary.
