I think the effects of a declining population in the USA (more deaths than births) will start to play out more strongly this year. I would put it in the top 10 risks (ever-present). Immigration (legal and illegal) will not be a lasting measure in terms of public sentiment towards immigration and from a resources perspective..

@31:53 That stat on People of African descent being likely to deliver babies prematurely (wherever they are, in the USA, in Africa, in the Carribeans)....is that genetic, or is it due to the socio-economic status of the black person, wherever they are? I am leaning towards the socio-economic status as the driver of that reality. If the phenomenon is as prominent in the USA as it is in Africa and the Caribbean, it follows that this is an indictment of the US healthcare system. It ought to be remarkably better than other countries where black people are. If US stats are dragged down by the presence of black people with little access to care, then the system is failing, and the demographics cannot be used as a disclaimer or adjustment factor.

I think Digital Hermits will eventually be an insignificant minority as increasingly more aspects of life become data-driven and "not sharing" data automatically exclude one from accessing a service. I think it might be better to adopt a proactive "brand activism" strategy as it counters the effects of conflicting interests amongst financial sponsors and brand allies. It also creates a sense of alignment and trust amongst loyal customer bases, who would prefer to retain in a bearish scenario." It also helps to mitigate the principal-agent problem. A loyal client would usually prefer to know that the company stands for a defined set of principles, runs the business accordingly and stands with them regardless of the economy's state. Also, there is nothing wrong with a reactive strategy (to political events that might affect a business environment) but I would describe it as a counter-attack tool to opponents because executive management will obviously act according to their own personal interests and that of their company and adopting a reactive strategy has a higher risk. It does however, provide a solid means of defense. We also need to acknowledge that, some specific services or products might require adopting a political stance but in order to mitigate risk and retain both employees and customers with particular views, they either will have to be completely exclusive (This would work well if the business only chooses to establish itself in a specific geographical area) or use technology and scientific methods to better understand customer demographics and views.
