Good Sunday morning Dug. You trim with the wheel moving very slowly. All of my teachers had the wheel going really fast so that's how I learned to trim. I love trimming. Maybe I should try slowing the wheel down a bit. Have a productive week.

Hi Dug. I watched your video sometime in the middle of the night. Couldn't sleep because it was too warm. I noticed when I clicked on the thumbs up, it didn't register as 1 at my end. I hope it did at yours. That happened once before. I love throwing bowls with a deep cut foot. I usually throw on plaster bats because they let go right when the piece is ready to trim. I'm not a big wood bat fan. Have a great week Dug.
@MitfordPottery14 күн бұрын
Hi Joan, These bats seem a little rough but do the job. I have never heard of plaster bats for throwing on. I wire them off when they dry a little. Trimming video to follow. Have a great week also.

Hi Dug. I hope you are enjoying your summer and are in good health. I just finished my 6th lidded jar this morning. I have chattered all of them. Into the kiln they go to add to what's already there. Plenty of time to dry before I fire a bisque. Have a great rest of your week. Joan

Good Sunday morning Dug. SpaceX launched a rocket last evening. I stood outside and marveled at the contrail drifting across the sky. Still watching. If these discs are past leather hard, maybe try holding the disk with one hand and tapping the bat edge on a hard surface. That's why I use plaster on plate forms. They just let go at the perfect time.

Hi Dug. I got my computer working, don't ask me how. I wanted to watch your live from the start so here I am. I've been thinking about your stuck pieces. Maybe instead of stacking them on top of each other to dry some, try setting them out separately so the air can flow under the bats. A thin piece of dry cleaner plastic over the clay so the edges don't dry faster than the center might work. Such a nice surprise to see you on live.

Hi Dug. I watched the Throw Down yesterday. You are doing great with the blindfold. I try that now and again to sharpen my senses. I think the most fun I had in a competition throwing was throwing with my feet. Hysterical. It was years ago at AMOCA {American Museum of Ceramic Art) with 9 competing. I came in 3rd. We all threw bowls. I don't think I could do that now. I don't bend like I used to at almost 70 in a month. I'm glad to see you back on 2 weeks in a row.

Thanks for watching and thanks for the compliments. Bowls can be tricky to throw.

Nice Dug. I see you have started to use the bend over cone method for centering. I learned it a million years ago because as I started throwing larger amounts of clay, I couldn't push down the clay because I don't have the strong upper body strength a man does. Bending over the cone made it much easier for me. Have a good week. Thanksgiving is on Thursday here. I'm having 2 couples over for a late afternoon dinner. Should be a yummy time.
