I wanna purchase a set of these but I'm cautious about metal models. Any pros, cons or tips from your experience?

For the 2 Infinity models I have done they went together and painted up no different from normal resin models. I think a lot of the stigma around metal models comes from the older GW minis. They weren't as bad as people make out, but they did require more work to make them stay together. As long as you have super glue and a decent primer, you will be fine with them.

You deserved a ko-fi and helping you ticking in paint. 😁 Do you have a actual ko-fi page? The link in your older videos did not work anymore.

The eventual goal for now is to just fund the hobby. I got rid of the Ko-Fi page a while ago. It's not a bad idea but it didn't feel like the right time to have one. I don't like the idea of having any of my content behind a paywall.

Is this adapter for the Citadel Painting Handle 3D printed? Would you share the STL if so? That's a awesome idea for bigger bases.

If I can dig out the STL I'll happily share it to you. It's pretty much just a 32mm base with circle attached to the top of it. For larger models however I have found it doesn't hold onto the painting handle too well.

That was my first thought when I saw the Beastmen sculpts. They could drop into a D&D game fairly easy as a band of gnolls.

For the video I don't add any varnish. But once I finish the box I will go back and air brush a matt varnish over them.

Absolutely you can. As long as your opponent is happy, you can use any minis you like with OPR games.

Thank you 😊. Oh yes, especially since just getting finished this far took just over 20 minutes. That is one of the main reasons I will be stopping the 20 minute limit when White Death turns up and I start that one.

No specific advise for painting up the Saurians. Just some general advice for any mini painting. 1 > Always do a test model before committing to a paint scheme for an entire army. 2 > It's only paint, so don't worry about mistakes. You can always paint over it.

Aight so watching your vids I'm starting to understand highlighting. Been using contrast paint over zenithal. When you do your highlights, do you go one or two tone lighter?

It's very situational. If I am trying to paint fast I will probably jump up a couple of tones at once and then use the wash to fix the gradient. For adding a highlight over contrast I would probably just do a single brighter highlight on the top parts. Or if you want a more gradual change then you can go a tone lighter for a mid tone layer and then jump up another tone for the highlight.

My favorite "wash" is Minwax Tudor Satin, which has a soft black/gray effect. I've always thought that washes seem to stain the raised areas too much.

I've heard wood stains work really well for washes. I've used them as varnish before but never for a wash. That is a big thing with most washes and they all stain differently between brands. Army Painter washes so far seem to be best for not staining too much and still looking good in the recesses.

Thank you 😊. That was a black prime with just white ink, but I think the smoke black is chromatic blue black. Every time I use it there is an odd tint to it. It's almost like it has some purple in the mix.

What scale did you print them? Are they similar scale to gw models

These are printed at 28mm. The files come with 28 and 32 but I will always choose the 28mm if there is an option. In terms of GW scale, I believe they are pretty much bang on. I don't have any to compare against but from memory they are basically the same.

I have noticed you used to put down all your base coats and then highlight. Now you do one thing (the cape for instance) then you highlight it and get it finished before moving on to another color or area. Do you do this for motivation purposes? Just curious of the purpose of the change

Motivation is a big part of it, a long with staying focused on what I'm trying to achieve on those specific parts. Although when I'm speed painting thing, I still base coat everything and then highlight after.

These were all printed myself on a Gen1 Elegoo Saturn. If you don't have a 3D printer yourself, The Makers Cult have an Etsy store where they sell their printed minis. I'm not sure if every mini they offer is there, but I have seen people talking about it in their Discord.

These look like a brilliant alternative to cadians. Similar vibes of being a fairly “normal” IG regiment, but with a distinct armour pattern; like you’d expect from a random not particularly unusual imperial guard regiment. The helmets remind me of some of the ones the Moebian VIth use in darktide and they’re kinda like the AT-ST pilots in Star Wars. It’s basically exactly what I was looking for! Would love to see a side-by-side comparison with one of the new official cadians to get an idea of how well they match the proportions and stuff

These are an amazing guard force to have available. They seem to be starting to release the tanks as well now, so we can get a complete force. I don't have any of the new guard to hand, but these feel like they would be a little smaller than the new cadians. More on par with the old school cadians.

Looks like a fun mini to paint. I’m getting back into shadows of brimstone and finally building some of their old resins. I swear that I should just toss some of them out. The dark stone shamans and the jargono warrior female are a train wreck. 💀💀

These are not too bad. OPR models are normally pretty good to assemble where needed and paint up. Oh old resin models are always a bit special. It's a 50/50 chance that they fit together without trimming anything down.

Yeah that is one of the perks of 3D printing. Especially for fantasy models, there is such a large collection of alternatives to work with. At least until GW actually make new models for these armies, then we can see how they hold up. It makes sense not to make the new models yet, until they know if The Old World will actually be popular enough to invest in.

Those paints are very nice to use. They are launching a third Kickstarter towards the end of Feb. They should have an option to pick up the older waves at the lower price.

I’m usually a black base or dark brown base kind of guy, but I’ve fully embraced plague brown as a base color option. I’m using it for Zomb UoA and some of my hero minis for Shadows of Brimstone. 👍👍

I was the same with the black base. For display models it's the perfect choice. But anything else it makes more sense to go with something closer to the base design.

Great video mate. I have a question: Where did you get the mini? I find it very hard to be sure of the quality with 3D printet minis. But your look great. Also - any way we could see a picture next to some of the GW knights? I'm very curios about the scale and style.

Thank you 😊. The file is from Highlands Miniatures and I printed it myself on a Gen 1 Elegoo Saturn. I'm pretty sure there are some sellers of these files on Etsy, but I can't verify their print quality. I don't have any GW knights to hand anymore. I lost my old army to to time. But I believe these are slightly larger than the original knights they made.

Oh yeah, they need to be very careful about their naming system. The GW ban hammer is always watching. Chaos battle sisters is something that has been missing. I love the Sisters of Battle, but a chaos version would be far more fun to play.

Thanks for this video! Quick question... Why does everyone paint the skin first? I was thinking in terms of painting the skin last that the skin is the lightest, so fixing mistakes where I paint skin on to other already painted areas will be easier to fix, than getting darker paint on to the skin. But there must be a reason it is done first. Can you clarify this for me? Thank you so much for your time!

Generally I will always paint what is lowest on the mini first. Just so that you don't have to paint past something to get to a lower part. You can of course work either way, it depends what you find easier. I have just got into the habit of painting the deepest parts and working out.

I print them out. All printed as is. Unless there happens to be a massive mini, then I will shrink it down a bit.
