The reason for the 18mm + 19mm lower strut bolt setup is that the top one (18mm head) has a thinner shank to allow for more camber adjustment. Doesn’t matter on KWs though as they have slotted holes for more camber adjustment anyway.
@RestoDesignsnando5 күн бұрын
ok that makes sense, 👍🏼 in this case the nut was 18mm and the bolt 19mm.

I bought one of these billet mounts from "blackforest Industries" for my 1.6 Jetta diesel. The vibration was massive and it ended up cutting the bolt, probably due slight push of torque shortly after. The bolt´s threads were not stripped though. It just broke the bolt and it´s still stuck inside... I had to go back to the old rubber hydraulic/solid front mount...

Nice to see the G60 get some love. I had a yellow 90' in back in 1992. Had a similar engine set up. Although not the VR6 which needs no words as far as being special, the G60 has very distinctive sound like a WW2 propler fighter coming from the G ladder. It has it's own specialness.

Hello ,i am preparing an 8V 2.0 engine CIS system CR about 10:1 aprox ,i was wondering if use a knock box like the one you used ,do you have a wiring diagram/ and or manual ? I don’t really understand how the knock box can control the timing ,does the knock box worked with that carbs ? Nice car ,nice job.
@RestoDesignsnando26 күн бұрын
Hi there, yes I can't see why you couldn't use this ECU on a 8V k-jet motor, will not work on a KE-jet motor. It really is as easy as I've shown in the video, Green Wire to coil, black & black/white wires also to coil, long brown to earth on battery, other brown wire earth to the engine block, 3 pin plug to the distributor, blue/white wire(I think?) is a coolant temp sensor and then a vacuum pipe to the inlet manifold. It's not a knock box, at has a 8x8 or 6x6 I can't remember spark table, rpm vs load. Rpm taken from the 4 window hall sensor in the distributor and load taken from the inlet manifold pressure. The coolant temp wire will be to advance spark when the engine and cold and when engine goes over 100Cº it would retard spark.
@rdperformance869726 күн бұрын

sorry i'm still learning, so you got an ECU just for ignition timing? did you only keep the wiring for the ignition system and deleted every other wire, or does that ECU only job is ignition and theres nothing else?
@davidparker967627 күн бұрын
Yes, he is using the ignition side of a ECU from a mechanical fuel injected model. The mechanical FI was pretty basic and only had a few other components to use. Eliminating the old points type distributor makes this easier to service and repair now and in the future.
@RestoDesignsnando27 күн бұрын
Yes it is like davidpaker has stated, the Golf mk2 16V has a basic ignition only ECU, using a map sensor, 4 window hall sensor for rpm and a coolant temp, it's a good reliable system.
