Really it was a brilliant play to get on Tucker Carleson. The way you packaged urbanism would be highly appealing to that side of the political spectrum. If the Republicans were smart, which they probably aren't, they would run with that message. Really any candidate.

Very very true, I am in it and an about to retire from the profession entirely at 34 years old. None, I mean Zero of my close school and early career friends are still in the profession. Invented the next revolution in pet safety and we are about to launch our company!

In my country, a bachelors in architecture takes 5 years, and the following are things I’ve only realized in my 5th year, and it’s what I tell younger students: - Simplify your project’s problem and solution. - Present everything in the same order as architecture websites and magazines. - Impress yourself first in order to impress others. - Justify everything by function (e.g., room function, intent of structure, research-based evidence, why the alternatives & other consideration to your proposal are less suitable than your proposed solution, etc.)

A big challenge with this is a middleware/platform that can bridge AI models and different manufactured products from other companies. Maybe matter can be a solution.

Very interesting how he was educated and mentored by very well known and respected architects from around the world during his early life, (and still these teachers/practitioners influencing the industry today), but AZP explains his story as a very coincidental circumstance. The fact that he took a studio from Brown back in the 1990’s while at GSD and couldn’t respond to the discussion from the studio’s lecture at the time, to winning a very important global design competition, and now he’s in a position that contributes to the discussion (the same way as Brown and others did) to other students and professionals alike today is actually quite fascinating. He’s either very lucky or an extremely modest repressed architectural genius. I hope he comes back on the show to continue his story and share more advise to others.

Interesting! There's probably a number of different ways to interpret this. Certainly every student should try their best, but for some, the pressure gets too great and it paralizes them, or leads to poor health maintenance!

Hey! love your podcast and just started listening in recently. I came across this video and believe there is a big misconception of what an interior designer does based on practice and area of study. I am an Interior Designer that works in a commercial Interior Architecture field for all my career, so I am not aware of what it may be like for an interior designer to work on residential projects. I do appreciate you noting that commercial and residential work being different, however, When completing my education and certification, a lot of the items listed for the interior architect are also under the knowledge and practice needed as an interior designer. There is a current issue right now with interior design titles and practice acts on a state by state basis in the U.S. where a decorator can go underneath the title of an interior designer without the certification or education. There is nothing wrong with being a decorator as it does have its place in the design field, but without the clear title separation from interior decorating and interior design, interior designers lose there respect in knowledge of more than only understanding finishes fixtures and equipment. The best description that I have heard for interior design is that it is the branch between interior decorating and Interior architecture, but it specifically excludes the responsibilities for Architectural and engineering work specified by the AHJ and altering or affecting the structural load baring system of a building. I do believe there is a line between each profession and would really love to see a follow up video with a guess speaker, if you have not had one already, that has gone through the certification and education for interior design for an open discussion in this field :) if you have can you send me the link so I can watch it? Above all else, I fully agree that clients should ask questions and understand exactly who they are hiring based on the skill, service, and competency of the service provider.

In this case, the body of the artist, like that of the author of a text before the reader in the reading, remains hidden, absent, but provokes with his voice, projected through the speakers, a reaction in the visitors of the Gallery. In this way, he becomes present in the work. What is the difference with 50 Shades of Grey? It's just an ethical question

This has been my problem years before I decide doing draft 3Ds at Conceptual stage. It is true, u cannot see most details in 2D plans. And yes I agree, 3Ds will be in detail at the final or development phase I have also learned recently the advantage of putting materials at early stages especially the floor. Instead of doing mbirnt occlussion

This is a bit frightening to hear as a BArch student at this school. Hard to believe this amount of grade inflation is supposedly happening here with the amount of hard work my peers and I are putting in, bc there seems to be enough 'rigor and discipline' already. Perhaps it's okay that the review process has changed/gotten nicer, WE'RE TIRED TOO
@secondstudiopod
@secondstudiopod Ай бұрын
Grade inflation has been happening for well over a decade and not just in higher-ed. I wouldn’t worry about grade inflation too much if you’re a student. While it’s an issue for everyone, it mostly impacts teachers. And it certainly doesn’t mean that if you get a good grade that you don’t deserve it. Though it is unfair that less hardworking students often get similar grades. Not all students lack rigorous and discipline. But burnout is real. Rest is you need to. Reviews and critiques have certainly gotten nicer. And that’s fine. But what’s not okay is any lack of transparency and honesty about the weak points in students’ work for the fear of upsetting them. This is the concern. And not all reviewers, critics, and panelists suffer from this trend. But I wouldn’t be discouraged by any of this. If you’re working hard and learning, that’s all that matters.

Architecture education needs a complete overhaul. Eliminate the highbrow theoretical echo chamber, and make school an apprenticeship again for REAL world applications. Restore value back into the profession. Professors have completely destroyed the discipline's worth.

Hi Marina and David, Congratulations on your Podcast! I've been deeply interested in the topic of "flow state" for several years and how it influences the way we achieve great goals in both our personal lives and professional work. As an architect, instructional designer, and CAD:BIM consultant, I help other architects and interior designers transform their workflow through the implementation of technology, systems, and processes. I've written several articles in my blog Roko Design about how to get into the flow state specifically for developing architectural 3D models-a concept I call High Performance 3D Modeling. I also want to encourage you both to keep going with this podcast. It's an excellent project and provides valuable educational material for other architects and professionals. Thank you! Roko

Interesting podcast. Creative design & exploring ideas often is better with just sketches before trying out spacial considerations. Zaha Hadid architects typically do a lot of their modelling with 3ds max or rhino as its much more versatile. Even sketchup is better for ideas. Bim really is for virtually constructing your designs with all stakeholders & contractors & solving constructability problems early whether thats structure M&E or architecture but yes it requires all teams to work with each other and share their updates to models so information isnt kept in silos.
