I think Lucy’s character should been jimmy’s mom because they went through similar situations such as workaholic parents, privileged wise, throwing parties etc. did Lucy even meet jimmy in the show cause I don’t think they did and she was labeled as jimmys god mom or cousin either or would’ve been nice to see.. js

I just HATE how they tried to make Peter a main character, he did really shitty things and barely have any remorse. Anytime someone mentions what he did he just laughs like it was a fond memory, but I’m supposed to feel bad that his parents are divorce and he has a meth addiction????

I feel sorry for Rick at first I didn't like him for the way he treated Terri and obviously putting her in a coma but he had anger and control issues and was trying to be better but was constantly being bullied and I just hate bullying anyway. He really shouldn't have come back to degrassi especially knowing people hated him there and the teachers and principal didn't help him he was just a ticking timebomb until he finally went off and poor Jimmy suffered because of it. Im surprised Jimmy ever forgave Spinner because I don't think I ever could.

One storyline that I think that they could’ve done more with was manny’s abortion. manny hints at it in a later episode (near the end of season 3, while she’s talking to jt about craig), but we never see how it really affected her, in depth. It would’ve been interesting to see manny & craig talk about it in seasons 5 or 6, when they get back together, or in the season 4 episode, “bark at the moon.” Just something to put a bow on the storyline, rather than never mentioning it again (after season 3).

I liked Spinner and Emma when it happened, but rewatching a few years ago they struck me as people (characters) that got stuck in their hometown, had no ambition or interest in moving on with their lives and just settled for someone in that exact same situation. It was sad!

I really thought we should've brought Lucy back for one more season. And explain why she couldn't take care of her son Connor. We could've understood why Connor had to live with Snake (maybe homelife, financial issues, etc). And why he had bigger opportunities living with them. Including Lucy being unable to take care of herself. She already had a cane due to Wheels.

I like Emma and Spinner in a vacuum (as in I think they're cute in the few episodes they're together) but I don't think they make sense in the wider context of the show (plus I'm team Sean forever 💔) I'm not 100% sure this is true, but I heard somewhere that the reason the writers put them together is because Miriam and Shane were dating irl at the time. Still a super weird send off for both their characters

I cannot believe they brought back the actress to play on Degrassi, but not as the original character Angela smh big missed opportunity, especially when it came to connecting characters to the older degrassivcharacters. That is what I originally liked about Degrassi.

Them needing to make wheelchair ramps for Jimmy makes no sense, since the already had them in the original Degrassi for Maya 😂

7:37 that plot line could have tied into her bullying of Rick, giving her a real arc, but they just like you said, forgot about her. But if it helps, there’s a degrassi short and we find out in the future that Alex ends up running Jimmy and Spinner’s business and becomes very wealthy.

Not gonna lie, they were my favorite couple of the next gen towards the end.

A missed opportunity to me was Jimmy & Manny not being together , like they would've been an adorable couple . Also I forgot what it was but some scene mentioned that they have kids later on . Janny or Jammy both were crowned together , both tell people their jealous of them ( Manny more tho ) , both are fashion icons , both are really good friends to others ( even when they don't deserve it 👀) , I also feel like they would've had great chemistry too . Bhandallas is how I believe Janny or Jammy would've been .

One storyline I wish Degrassi followed more of was when Liberty, Manny and Emma went off to college. What we got were basic college stories. But when it came to Marco, Elli and Paige they gave each character their own storyline and also character development.

Ngl I was really rooting for Jimmy and Ellie..they hinted at him liking her so early back in like season 2. And I really like the later storyline of her helping him stand up to his dad about his new love for art after his shooting and stuff like I feel they could’ve done a great job and made each other better, Instead of the stupid and drawn out love triangle with Craig and manny. Also the character 180 for Owen always bugged me. It felt so forced and random…I’m not sure why they did that but like they didn’t even attempt to make him answer for all that homophobic shit he did to zayne and randomly have Tristan be his brother but that made it even more confusing and frustrating..they could’ve explored that more but just didn’t and it felt out of place..

Spinner and Emma is a sin! I agree that Paige and Alex relationship ended weirdly. They deserved better. But please, no hate to Eclaire. They got the most screentime because they had the most chemistry and got the best storylines. Of course they were kinda toxic but that's what made them interesting.

The Angela Tori situation just PISSED ME OFF

I'm going to play devil's advocate with Tori's character. I have a feeling they couldn't introduce her as Angela because even though the actress is of age, in story 10 years didn't go by. When you look at the graduating classes and a timeline of the show, she would barely start middle school: Holly J's class for example supposed to graduate in 2009 but wound up becoming the 2011 class. I only thought of this because I'm rewatching the series and you can see 20 or 30 episodes go by, but in story only 3 months lapsed. One of the most egregious examples of this is Drew and Bianca storyline regarding Vince: It feels like half a year went by with Drew experiencing PTSD, but the episode where he faints due to multiple concussions confirmed that the timeline only happened in the course of a handful of weeks. And when you see a whole season and a half of Claire and Eli drama, you'd think it happened over an entire school year, but you find out that they were only dating for 3 months before they broke up the first time. And this is why Chantay looks dang near old enough to buy a house by the time she graduates. But I do agree that the episodes having a soap opera format and airing daily definitely rob some characters of story opportunities.

I hate how they treated Adam. His storylines just helped build other characters. With Fiona, he finally was the person to help her with her alcoholism. We get a whole episode where he has a secret admirer just for it to be Tristan. Adam and Becky barely get storylines and when they finally do, Adam gets jealous, cheats, then dies. His whole funeral episode was just about other characters. I get that they loved him, but after that we barely hear his name unless Drew is going through a crisis🙄.. Bro literally started dating his dead brothers girlfriend within the same season. Adam deserved better!!

Fun fact Jack was actually supposed to be in season 5 of degrassi next class but it unfortunately got cancelled. And I agree with family storylines because I was so confused about the feminist storyline in next class since Baaz and Goldi are siblings and there’s a whole storyline that revolves around Goldi shutting down a club that her own brother was in and instead of him getting mad at her he attacks Maya instead and we never see them talk about it at all or even interact until season 3

There is a few storylines that we never really got a full in depth of the situations. Like Emma going to trial to deal with that online predator back in season one episode one mother and child reunion part one and part two. We never really got how Jimmy and Ashley got together in season one. We also did it really get a whole big and dabbed of how Emma and Sean‘s relationship really was per se. That was my whole thing about that. Also would’ve like to know if Joey and that girl that he got with in season five ever got married? That would’ve been something to find out about. Also, I’ve never been a big fan of Emma and spinner getting together. It never made sense to me. They hardly ever inactive with each other maybe like two small scenes in the whole series that they were in. In my mind, I am thinking that Sean and Emma got married. That’s what I think, what is going on now.

I’ve seen rumors somewhere online that they made Emma and Spinner get married was because the actors were dating at the time. Which if it’s true, that’s a very dumb reason. Those actors dated each other all the time! Writing an ending based on the actors and their personal romance off screen feels gross. Another thing I read somewhere was the writers stole the Emma/Spinner plotline from a fanfic! All of this is here say but the staff always saying “we weren’t thinking” and nothing else makes me ?????? about the choice.
