I bought an M5 about 2 years ago, then last year got a chance to go "unlimited air time" on it with a 100cfm tow behind compressor, it's a powerful thing having an M5 on demand for as long as you want.

The Sandcast K5H is likely from Early 1960s. So it far predates anything Generations wise. Also K horns don't have generations.

This recording is probably the best sounding horn I've ever heard!

The quieter 1 bell really does give that 'whistle' effect that Swanson intended for K horns. It's too bad the 1 bell rarely is actually the quietest, even on the Corkers.

I remember when trains had that sound. Santa Fe had a similar sound that was unmistakable. SP had their Nathan P3 in "A" that was also unmistakable. Now they have an electronic static buzzing sound, like a very loud dial tone. Nothing beautiful about them now.

Gorgeous M5 horn music, just beautiful. Is that an A Major 7th I hear? Lovely piece of 1950's railroading. The M5 was very popular on the B&O and C&O, but of course that was long before my time.

Does anyone know where I can find a good K5L? Most likely not a raised letter, I’ll take it if I need to but how rare are they?
I need those brass heads if anyone has some for sale.
