I just used my new Wen sander. Nice. Mine has the motor mounted off the head. It’s still a chore to sand ceilings. The motor heats up to burning hot pretty quickly. Anyone else have the same problem?

Sanding overhead is taxing to say the least. I've never had the heating up issue. Hope all turns out well for you.

I too did want to0 see it in normal speed at least for a bit. I am impressed with your mud work. The fact you use boxes tells me you know what you are doing and are a much better finisher than myself. If you like this machine, than that says a lot. Further, I see you didn't use a particle mask until you started hand sanding tells me how effective the dust collection is. You scooted right through the job in what, 30 minutes? Thanks for posting. Nice video work too.

Great ideas. I do NOT miss below zero winters! Lol. More things to consider- What's the cost to haul away all the insides? Wear a good mask. Fyi. Mice poo & pee cause Hanta virus 60% fatal. Also, our land's previous owner gutted a kitchen in an old tiny mobile home , left a pile outside. The particle board everything is made of don't burn easy- lotza glue & plastic & grossness. I had to sift thru it, remove wood for burn pile & haul off the water logged cabinets & etc. We have free landfill, but I know thats not true for all states. ALSO, red mites are pretty bad in chicken coups so PAINT your coup. Red mites will destroy their feet. Just saying.

@redpineridgefarm3306 ай бұрын
I have a feed mill about 45 minutes away from my house that deals in organic feed. They source much of their grains from Iowa, from what I'm told.

Be careful with that wedding ring on. I’ve had guys brake fingers ( one lost a finger ) when ring got caught in something on the job. Was first thing the old timers taught us when I started in construction ….

You are absolutely correct! I know some older local guys who lost a finger due to their ring. Theirs were due to farming but the same thing applies here. Thanks for the info.

Just curious who is accountable for the poor sheet rock hanging. Will that reflect your pricing?
@redpineridgefarm3308 ай бұрын
They are students who build the house for a class in school. This is most likely their first time hanging drywall and is intended to spark interest in the trades. Normally it would justify a price increase, but for this situation no. Thanks for the question!

@redpineridgefarm330 I haven't figured out the way to make any money from chickens or pigs where I am. Without starting my own processing facility. We only have one for about 3 counties and they charge $50.00 dollar kill bill, and .50 per pound to process. So for a 300lb hog that's $200.00 right there. Those prices may be higher now as it's been 3 years since I had one processed. We kill our own for ourselves but can't legally do it for anyone else. Our 50lb sack of whole corn that was $8.00 is now right at $15.00. I'm land rich (mountain woodlot), financially poor. So covering feed cost from May to September for 10 pigs would be out of the question. Another issue I have is that most people where I live have at least been a part of raising a hog themselves at one point or another. So they don't want to pay someone else to do it. A lot of folks now have become cut snobs as well. Like turning a bunch of cows into new pasture, they only want to eat the sweet stuff. We only want the chops, or the hams or the ribs or the tenderloin. Selling a whole or half hog isn't appealing. Imagine if the local grocery store only sold whole chickens. Everyone would look like Fred Sanford about to go see Elizabeth when they want to cook a bunch of wings for the game. It's a tough niche to get into even if breaking even at the end is your only goal. I applaud you Sir!

I have a 55 gallon drum and a 35 gallon drum. I cut three 1/2 notches in the top of the 35 gallon drum where the ring is. It's open topped. Pack it with oak. Put it open topped down in the 55 gallon drum. Pack around it with old pallet wood is what I use. Light it up. Put the lid on the 55 gallon drum. I cut a hole in the center and have a stove pipe on it. When the oak starts gassing off. It will take over and burn until it's done. About 4 hrs. Important. Let it sit 24 hrs before taking it out. No oxygen can get to while its still hot. I learned this the hard way. Lol. As long as it's oak. I use it for cooking. It burns up pretty fast on the grill tho. Great for steaks and burgers. I also feed it to my hogs and cows.
