Consider this... circa 2001-02 Newly appointed Bengal CM : BuddhaBaabu Newly appointed Gujarat CM : Mr. Modi One had all the right accumen, greater visions, but too many bottlenecks and hindrances all along his way. The other was the mascot of "Might is Right" and ensured his path had to be clear all throughout, by hook or crook if need be... Over two decades down the line, we all know where those two paths have eventually led (and how one was short lived, which paved the way for a longer life of the other - all thanks to one Tata Nano project which went from Singur to Sanand). Now I wouldn't go as far as to say that the bad won over the good... it's just that perhaps politics is simply not everyone's cup of tea. If you are the head of state and one of the big names of your party, you'll need to ensure you keep your ways ahead free from turbulances in order to get things done YOUR WAY. The only name that comes close to the stature of BuddhaBaabu should be Mr. Pattnaik, his counterpart from the adjacent state - but the latter too did manage to keep "his enemies" at bay for a significantly long period of time, neither did he have to break his head over politburo BS... It's been over two decades since then...now Bengal does have a head of state who's all mightly and all powerful, with literally noone or nothing to challenge her highness's stature, and look where that has led the state to... Thus it also matters who gets to play the "Might is Right" card, the good, the bad or the UGLY...

Looking at video interview of our former CM Mr. Budhhadeb Bhattacharya, he was a visionary which no one in our state accepted it. From 1977-2000 the economical damage which was created by his former colleague Jyoti Basu, he tried to recover it. West Bengal had all the resources to become leading IT Hub of India, but the negative minded people of West Bengal destroyed their own state and now the worst state in India to survive in. Honestly, West Bengal didn't deserve a CM like Buddhadeb Bhattacharya. 😊
