An old Sam video! I really didn’t vibe with Sword of Shannara but when I read Elfstones at the beginning of 2021 end of 2020, around New Years somewhere, I really enjoyed it

Bought all 3 just read the first. I'm familiar with the DemonWars books that this series is loosely connected to, and for the most I agree. Its rough that the last 50 pages are what really interested me, and as of Coven book 1, the last 50 pages are unrelated to Aoelyn and company and more an epilogue to the DemonWars books.

Thanks for this review! I picked up this book at a charity book sale a few years ago and goodreads scared me off a bit. This makes me excited to give it a go again!

Now let's just get the 8 billion dollars required to simply pay for that casting haha I'd agree with almost all of your choices, except for The Fool. He is my absolute favorite character of the saga (as many of us), and I would be nauseous having Tilda Swinton playing him. Jared Leto is too old for at least the first part of the story. So maybe we should leave that door open and that path unwalked, and let a newcomer make his way to the role :)

These tales are all based on 11th century Norman fiction. They were used as propaganda to subjugate the conquered Saxons, nothing more. If you want to know Arthur, REAL Arthur, you need to read The Mabinogion…the old Welsh legends and tales where Arthur was stolen from.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿👍

1) When Victor created the monster, it was just a biology experiment to him. He wasn't thinking of the life that the monster would be living after he was created. For Victor, the creation of the monster was a problem in biology to be solved and that's all it was. The horror of what he had done struck him only after he looked into the monster's _seeing_ eyes. 2) Was _evil_ and _murder_ appropriate responses for the monster, despite his mistreatment? If a person is mistreated in life, do we not bring them to justice for committing murder nonetheless? Shouldn't we hold the monster responsible for his actions? 3) _Frankenstein_ prompts some fascinating ethical questions: What does a person (or monster) owe the creator (God or parents)? What does the creator owe the person?

Such a shame that Netflix really messed up a wonderful novel series. Had they stick to the books, it wouldn't have been canceled. Never mess with an original!

Great review! This is my favorite trilogy as well, and Fool's Fate is my all-time favorite fantasy book, but Nighteyes' death in Fool's Errand...😢 IMO it's perhaps the most beautifully written scene I have ever read 😭

Dickens evidently plagiarized from two works by American author Mathew Franklin Whittier in writing Chapter 29 of the "Pickwick Papers," his first Christmas story entitled "The Story of the Goblins Who Stole a Sexton." The first is a story published eight months previously in "Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine" (May edition) entitled "The Unbidden Guest," signed "Trismegistus." "Trismegistus" had been one of Mathew's pseudonyms since 1828, and it's his story. The second is a story entitled "The New Year's Bells" which, by style, I believe Mathew would have written around 1832. It was plagiarized and published by Francis A. Durivage in 1852, but it contains strong parallels to both "The Story of the Goblins Who Stole a Sexton," and "A Christmas Carol." How Dickens could have obtained that story is a matter of speculation, but presumably Mathew had submitted it to a British journal, or sent it for someone's perusal, and a copy ended up in Dickens' hands. I believe that Mathew and his wife, Abby Poyen, who were the original co-authors of the "Carol," used "The New Year's Bells" as a template. Just for starters, however, read my paper concerning the obvious influence of "The Unbidden Guest" on "Goblins," which can be seen on my Academia.edu profile page with the following link: www.academia.edu/83405201/The_Possible_Influence_of_Mathew_Franklin_Whittier_s_Story_The_Unbidden_Guest_on_The_Story_of_the_Goblins_Who_Stole_a_Sexton_by_Charles_Dickens He didn't write "A Christmas Carol" at all, he merely re-worked the existing manuscript of an obscure American couple within six weeks, to avoid impending debt. His influence was to secularize it and dilute it for mass consumption. My paper, "Evidence That ‘A Christmas Carol’ Was Originally Written by Mathew Franklin Whittier and Abby Poyen Whittier, Rather Than by Charles Dickens," can be downloaded from the link below; or, it can be read by searching for the paper's title on Academia.edu. www.ial.goldthread.com/MFW_APW_Carol.pdf
