My dad was navy, retired at 30. He started as enlisted retire as a lieutenant commander. He saw people like Hanks a lot. They only saw the military as a business and they were there to show how it should be done. Always glad to tell some old hands how their job should be with no experience on their part. I learned some of my more colorful language from him.

Dad told me about Carl before I was 5. He said Carl was the only reason he would he an officer. He retired after 25 years of service as an E8. That was in the early seventies before I was born.

This is the last movie I watched with my dad before he passed. Holds a very special place in my heart ❤️

When as the watch commander at Indian Creek Corrections Center, one of my officers served under Master Driver CPO Carl Maxie Brasher. When he passed military service members everywhere in the states attended the memorial held at Little Creek Naval Base. Was told Robert De Niro also attended. Many of the staff in law enforcement were military and word quickly spread of Master Driver Brasher death. He had that big an impact in the Hampton Roads Community. R.I.P. Master Chief Brasher.
