I have to get a CT scan July 25th I’m 12 years old and I’ve never had one before. The saddest part of stories like this is that in all likelihood had a proper exam taken place on that initial visit even without a CT the symptoms of raised intracranial pressure would have been easily spotted. Testing for papilledema is really simple and should be standard procedure. Also clarifying that the reason to avoid a CT in a 12 year old is based on radiation exposure would be helpful. Wish these stories would tell more about what type of doctors were consulted initially and what type of exams and testing were done rather than vaguely imply that the doctors made mistakes but that the hospital being promoted here are the true heroes. This way people can learn more about what should be done and what to do if it isn't.
